Apc223 over X95

how can anyone but the buyer himself determine what is 'worth' in terms of cost? How's your income? Would you miss the extra money of the APC terribly and have buyer's remorse immediately and perpetually?

Have you held either rifle? Shot them?

If money was no object, I would go straight to the APC, without question. Not a massive fan of the ergos on the X95.

I had the same conversation with myself around the X95 vs Bren2. Sold an X95 to fund a Bren2.... ended up buying another X95. Traditional and bullpup designs are both great. Just different. 100% personal preference.

The real problem is they are both excellent.
I have kept the APC because I am not a fan of polymer.

However the x95 was a fantastic firearm that was a blast to shoot.

Honestly its very easy to resell firearms on the equipment exchange for a "rental fee" loss.
I don't think you can go wrong with either.

The APC costs twice what an X95 does. Thats a BIG price differential.

Personally I'd prefer a conventional rifle layout but I bought an X95 because it is a military based rifle that has a reputation for excellent reliability and longevity. Like most people, a $2500 difference is meaningful.

Having had both and shot coyotes with both here's a couple comments

The APC is easier to be more accurate with but as others have said it is more expensive and heavier. Definitely a nice piece of kit. Easy to shoot. In NR for annoyingly long. but with a proper sling still very manageably to carry. Even factory the trigger is good. I have handloads that are 3/4 MOA and it was very easy to load for.

The X95 I was shooting about 1 MOA groups with handloads, it was amazing to carry in the bush over barbwire fences. But being so compact it was hard to stabilize and I struggled with it on some of the longer shots. The trigger doesnt help, a kit would make a difference but put the elfmann trigger in the APC and its basically a match rifle. X95 not so much

Both are great, the X95 is definitely way over gassed where the APC is adjustable. Other than that with the pros and cons I would take the APC the build quality is better than the X95 and the traditional AR style format is better suited to the type of shooting I do.

X95 is easily the best black rifle you can buy in Canada, when all factors are considered. Price, size, reliability, parts and availability, its got it all.

I'm having this debate myself. Currently own a custom X95. With the added trigger upgrades, grip, buttpad the cost is getting very close to an APC 223. My question is, how much benefit does the B&T add, and how accessible are parts?

The X95 is proven, I have run thousands of rounds and used it in over a dozen 3gun matches. Other than the odd magazine failure (feed lips and weak springs) it has run 100% of the time.

You managed to put $2500 worth of upgrades on to a $2500 rifle? How is that even possible?

The most expensive X95 upgrade I have seen is the full trigger, which is about $800. The butt, grip will run another $200 or so. Thats a long way from doubling the cost of the X95 rifle.

Really want to get a calculator out. CGN is ridiculous.
X95 - $2850
Lightning bow - $195
Super Sabra trigger pack - $620
Pistol grip & IDF panels - $80
Curved Butt pad - $120
Manicure optimus hand guard - $140
Total = $4005

Just to appease you, these prices were taken directly from RDSC. But I know some items can be had for cheaper. Back to my original point. With these upgrades, the cost gets CLOSE to a B&T APC 223 (currently at Northern Elite for $4875). Again, the price is CLOSE. Jeesus.

I know you’re comparing the APC, but have you considered the Bren 2 from shield Rifleworks? They got it converted to a NR that’s 7lbs which is quite impressive. I used to have an ATRS modern sporter that I built out for a lightweight NR which ended up at about 6.5lbs

Considering the bren 2 from shield is a little cheaper than an APC and is very comparable, maybe it’s a third option to consider.

Personally I was very close to buying a NR APC until I held one. Don’t get me wrong, it’s very nice but I just couldn’t justify it. Didn’t have the same reaction with the Bren 2

ATRS is a good choice too, considering the vast availability of parts and upgrades. Very lightweight too.

Nothing to disagree with there, definitely the best NR option. Too bad the only way to get a receiver is by paying over double secondhand. Then it’s going to require an additional $1500-2500 in parts depending on brand and quality.

I hope everyday they go for sale again from oem.

It's apples and oranges. Both are great. Get one of each, and then add a Bren 2 to the pile.

Personally, I'd lean towards the X95 just for the weight and compactness factor. The APCs are just so friken heavey, I can't stand a heavy black rifle. In my opinion, they need to be light and nimble for running and gunning. You can always get a bipod for bench rest shooting. An 11inch Bren 2 would actually be a nice compromise between the two.

The X95 can be found for 2499. Your comparing a fully upgraded X95 to a basic APC with no upgrades and still paying almost $1000.00 more for the APC. Not sure I follow your "price is close" logic.

Also, if you wanted to be alittle more fair in the comparision, you should have compared prices from the same retailer. The RDSC APC price is listed at $5139.99. (currently in stock)
