Does your secret clearance mean your key opens EVERY door at the mall?

Seriously, asking a Q like yours on the interwebz is foolish.

there are a lot of government jobs (like mine) where a clearance is required. no biggee.

Yeah... Go tell that to your unit or departmental security officer!
Let me know how that turns out for ya...

That's pretty funny.... I've had to have security clearance in the past to work at government installations in the north and be in rooms with sensitive equipment. The kind of clearance where they contact your elementary school, speak with your teachers, finger print you and so on.

I forget what level I was but it was up there, couldn't have a criminal record or any kind of sorted past.... anyway everyone who worked up there and those that knew them knew they had high level security, it was no big secret we were told to keep.

In fact when our job ended we were told we could use the fact that we had that clearance on our resume

having it known you have security clearance no or in the past doesn't mean your at risk.... its common knowledge in a lot of jobs

Lol a target... Pretty much anyone with 3yrs up in the CF has that security clearance...

Need a tinfoil hat ? Just bought a new roll :p

yeah.. and almost every Canadian citizen is "reliable"... Gawd I love sec clearance in this country..

Well said, people see the word "secret" and get all stressed up. Truth is it only means you're a Canadian citizen and holds no criminal record, and of course you filled up the paperwork. There must be half a million people that have this clearance.

So your life had to be dishevelled for you to get that clearance? Seems a bit odd.

Thats the way I see it too.

Bragging that you have a Level II clearance on the internet is just an indicator that you should NOT have such clearance...

At the end of the day, the internet, and this site is being monitored. You just made yourself a possible target!

Dumbass!

If you have Solicitor General Clearance of level 2 and you're yapping about it on here, You've just lost your clearance.

The answer is No, it won't help or hinder your RPAL application, But some good advice would be to delete any posts mentioning as such and learn to keep your mouth quiet about clearances that they have specifically asked to keep quiet about, and BTW, you've also signed something that says you were going to shut up about it. Whatever clearance you have, I'm pretty sure its going to be short lived.

Hey you guys better watch out... the black helicopters are circling to take your tinfoil hats away.....

Did you know that all federal jobs in Canada require security clearances? If you know the persons job or even better their site access you can pretty much ascertain their clearance.

Also many contractors and their employees are required to have security clearances even up to top secret.

When I had my clearance years ago I was never asked not to divulge my clearance... my family, some friends & former teachers knew because they were my references & while they don't tell your references why they are calling its pretty easy to sort out why they're calling... My mother called me after her phone interview and asked me what kind of job I was applying for that they want to know all these questions about me....

Still don't believe me........ here with a simple Google search and going to the governments own website http://www.cse-cst.gc.ca/home-accueil/careers-carrieres/faq-eng.html we now know that everyone working for the CSEC has top security clearance.

Not so secret now is it?

having clearance simply means you pass their test for being trusted not to divulge information at your disposal to anyone

Uh oh... I hear knocking at my door....... DELETE DELETE DELETE cou:

"...have a Secret clearance..." A security clearance means nothing. Neither does any previous experience. The idea of the FA is to discourage new shooters.
