Well I didn't want to start this but somebody's got to do it...

Today is Good Friday but yesterday was a good Thursday as my new toy arrived.:D

My matching Czeka Zbrojovna vz.24 from the Wolverine Supplies Surplus Sale (some of you might recognize the pic). This was the standard prewar Czech Army pistol. Its unfortunate that it had to be dewated as it is 12.6.

The serial # of my vz.24 is in the 131### range. So if you have been following my posts on the Polish Contract vz.24 (automatyczny Pistolet wz.28), this indicates that it was manufactured in 1936 or later, and by its military acceptance stamp entered into service in 1937.

But does anyone definitively know what the J represents?

I'll post better pics later.

Very nice, Fugawi. Any chance of more pics? I've never had a chance to examine a CZ-24 in the flesh.

I'm currently on vacation in the southern US, but I couldn't resist the purchase of a very nice 1883-dated VC Schilling Reichsrevolver 1879 in the Buda, Texas Cabelas. A quick call to the BATF by the manager and I was out the door in about 20 minutes for $715 and tax. Didn't imagine it'd be so easy! Pictures to come when I have better internet.

I'll try to take some pics tomorrow. I just picked it up last night after work. Been handling it some today and posting about it (and other 'nutz stuff).

BTW there is/was an VIS 35 listed in an online Texas gunshop. If you're nearby you might want to check it out if interested. Got to have deep pockets though - its a prewar Radom.

Yeah, that's Collector's Firearms in Houston, unfortunately it's south of Austin (where I flew into) and I'm heading North. They also have a Mexican Pieper 1893 revolver that I'm trying desperately to convince myself I don't need...

That said, I don't imagine I'll be buying any more guns on this trip, but the Reichsrevolver was definately worth it!

She's a 1952 M38 CDN. Going to need some work for sure, but all the bones seem to be there for a restoration.

She's my first so I'm pretty excited. :D

Hawkshadow, all it will take is lots of time, money, sweat, research, more time, more money and a never ending search for parts.

Eventually, it will regain its original splendor.

Nice and clean though. Great start on a restoration project.

Haha that's definitely how it seems Bearhunter!

She's been sitting for probably around 3years. She ran when the guy put her away. No signs of water in the oil, hand-turning the fan shows everything feels and sounds good with good compression. The tranny is stuck in neutral, I'm hoping that it just needs to be rocked to mesh, or needs fluid replaced.

The tub will either need to be replaced or it'll take a good deal of patch work.

I was thinking of starting a thread so that I could ask for the help of other guys here who have done the same, just not sure if it would be appropriate?

Hawkshadow, welcome to the willys club! I had an M38 years ago and still have boxes of parts and I think a manual kicking around. Let me know if you need anything.

Nice jeep, A buddy has/had two of those sitting on his farm. He was talking about getting rid of them, not sure if he did or not.

"Appropriate" or not, there sure seems to be enough interest here.

And it IS a Milsurp.

Start asking about Browning mounts along with the parts you are looking for and I don't think ANYONE would cavil.

Nice Toy!

I'm not a photographer...but I did my best. Here's my newly acquired 1938 dated code 27 K98k. It's a captured weapon but all the waffenampts are un-peened and there is no X on the receiver. In addition, the barrel bands, band spring, stock, hand guard and butt plate are all matching. The helmet is a M35 (pretty sure it's Luftwaffe) and the bayo is just your run off the mill model -- also 1938.
