AR 15 problem

thank you everyone for the info. I guess im going to replace my disconnect and then go from there.

What the test has shown you is that the problem centres around the disconnector... but it can have a number of causes and resolutions...

  • Could be a piece of dirt or something caught down in the trigger area that the disconnector fits into (thus causing the disconnector to stick).
  • Could be a burr in the groove where the disconnector sits, again causing the disconnector to stick (this is quite common).
  • Could be the spring under the disconnector (broken, missing, etc.)
  • Could be the disconnector itself is damaged and requires replacement.

A run-away AR. That's awesome (and not at the same time). I would have to say there is something wrong with your sear. It could be defective, as in, not built to design specification (error in manufactoring?). Due to high percision machining required to create the small complex parts that make up the trigger/firing mechanism, just one part being off by a couple micrometers will make all the difference in the operation of your AR.
Afterall, one of the smallest parts, the firing pin retaining pin, is the only thing holding the weapon together as a firearm, lol. :D

Without it, your AR is just a fancy, expensive but less-effective club....

There is NO sear in semi automatic AR15.

..is there a piece of paper/ crap wedged under the disconnector? I've seen silly buggars try to make them fire full auto that way.(its not safe auto mind you)

No i took it all apart today and cleaned everything well.after the cleaning its still doing the same thing with the hammer going forward when the trigger is released.

Sounds like it's had a recent trigger job where the sear was polished to much. When this happens it doesn't stop after the first round is discharged. If this rings 'bells' and is happening, it will get progressively worse until you get a full mag burst and eventually as it will happen as soon as you #### the rifle it will simply fire immediately and empty the mag.

I'd order a new trigger group.

If I'm not mistaken, the sear is the component that controls when the hammer is released. There should be a sear in any automatic (which is also semi-automatic, contrary to common understanding) firing system. Handguns included. However, I'm not a weapons tech, so my knowledge of the AR type mechanism isn't spotless. I suppose I may be wrong when it comes to the specific terminology. I thought that a civi AR has a modified sear that negates fire selection.

Is it a stock, or an aftermarket trigger. MY JP trigger was doing this until it was fitted properly. Diconnector timing issue.

In the USA you would be charged with a crime and I'm sure the snoops here will love to hear about this.....

Pretty unwise discussion if you think about it. You no longer have a semi auto.

Unwise not really if i dont ask people how to fix my firearm and hide the fact that the i gun bought has a problem with it,how would it ever get fixed.
Yes i could read books on it(which i have been doing)or i could just replace everything in the gun and hope that after spending all that money the problem is fixed or i can ask my fellow CGN for there knowledge on past experience to help me rectify this problem in a timely manner.

PM's are not quite as public. I realize you're in a tough spot!

I was pointing out the unfortunate reality of the situation, and trust me, just because you're trying to correct the problem doesn't mean you can't be charged, or that someone can't use the info or comments in this thread against us.

Good luck. My AR needed some work in this area as well to be sure of reliable operation.
