AR-15 trigger reviews

I'd be interested to read some reviews too for the Trigger Tech. I have a Colt Canada so I don't think it will work for me though; its my understanding it is for small pin lowers only.

Anxiously awaiting a review of the TriggerTech AR 15 trigger.

Mike - Maybe Triggertech will loan or comp you a trigger.

After a decent amount of research on the subject and almost heading the Geisselle direction I took the plunge with a Trigger Tech AR 15 trigger when they were on sale recently

Firstly - they're a thing of beauty - even the packaging looks good. Everything you need to piece it all together is there and the instructions are clear.

The trigger is a snug fit but once its dropped in and the 2 grubs screws are tightened its good to go.

I should say that I`m coming from a heavy OEM trigger with a sharp edge that I detested but this thing is sweet - SUPER light on the lightest setting to the point that its too extreme for fast shooting, when shooting slower and with a little more composure it makes accuracy infinitely better, no take up, super crisp and short reset

To conclude I love it - kinda wish I had got the straight variant but it was sold out when the sale was on, even so I`m really happy and would recommend.

I just got a Trigger Tech ( AR 15 adjustable 2-5lbs - curved )

Will do a review tomorrow at the range.

Stay tuned.

P.S. Install went great. All good. Selector is a little stiff. Will fix that later.

First impressions: really good 1 stage trigger.

You need anti walk pins...

Cheers.

After using one for the last few months, I couldnt agree more. The only thing hard to handle was the cost.

Why? It has set screws.

curious what you're referring to also...
pin size? it says milspec...they don't offer a large pin option

i just bought a Geiselle SD-G3 and am looking to update my other with a triggertech so this has me a little leery now

thanx

I am not sure what walk pins are but the TriggerTech assembly uses set screws to lock the trigger assembly into position by pushing down against the bottom of the trigger bay. I think that downward force pushes the assembly upward to lock the trigger pins into position. My TriggerTech trigger has been in service for over 1000 rounds and has not moved at all. Its not too difficult to install and its a great trigger!

I see there a few relatively inexpensive options. After repeated tries at the MOA challenge I've come to the conclusion that I need two things, a better optic, and more importantly a new trigger. I've come close four times...at this rate I'll have spent $150 on match projectiles by the time I pull it off. The optic will have to wait, but I should be able to manage up to $200 in fairly short order. The AGL looks enticing at its current price, but the long pull is the one thing I want to eliminate. There is a catch though, I'm considering giving Service Rifle a try, so nothing under 4.4 lbs. Can anyone comment on any trigger that will reduce the trigger travel and yet still be ok for service rifle. At first glance it looks like only the JP with the CMP spring will while coming under $200.

Can anyone comment on JP's "Poor Man's Trigger Job"?

From their web site.

The "Poor Man's" Trigger Job

Spending $140 or more for trigger parts on every AR-15 rifle you may own may not be realistic. If you can't quite pop for our complete trigger kit, or have too many rifles and can't justify expensive triggers in all of them, then this may be for you. You can achieve a significant improvement over stock parts by using a set of our custom trigger/hammer springs and the Rydol sear compound. With proper sear and hammer notch preparation, a livable 4.5 to 5.0 smooth trigger in a rifle with standard trigger components is possible. It will not have the extremely short engagement/over travel feel like the JP trigger, but you will have a smooth "roll-off" feel that will give usable trigger control. The spring kit includes trigger, hammer and disconnector spring and complete instructions on how to prep your parts for best results. Or, send in your lower assembly and we'll do it for you, complete with springs, professional work over of your parts, and return shipping included for $65.00.

I have experimented with a couple of different milspec triggers and JP springs but found the AGL to be the easiest solution. I have polished up a stock trigger and it felt fine but was a little stiff. I have a TriggerTech trigger in one of my ARs, which is great! If you don't want to spend that kind of money, and you are are not happy with the pull weight, put in the JP springs. If you don't like the travel and your lower has a hole that continues on into the inside from the grip screw, get one of these.: http://www.ar15triggeradjusters.com/ and it will remove a lot of the take up.

 I missed this reply, just remembered to check...

My first purchase was a set of JP springs, major difference on the pull weight. It was still a stock trigger though. I ended up giving an ALG a try. Very happy with it! Next to no travel, and breaks clean, a little stiff though. Next time I take the rifle to Bravo range (600m) in Petawawa I may put in the JP springs...that should be about perfect for a low cost decent trigger.

The Giessele SSA trigger is very good. I got a couple of good deals for the AR-10 and AR-15 from Arms East. It's on my
default upgrades list for any future Armalite purchases.

Once you go Geissele, you dont go back. Now all my firearms have Geissele triggers, even non AR ( i own their entire line up except for the SCAR,H&K and the super select fire). Not crapping on Trigger tech, but their pull and trigger break is 2 centuries behind Geissele, Timney is really the only trigger company out there that gives Geissele a run for their money.

IF people can only afford JP springs. save up, stop buying starbucks coffee for 2 weeks and you can afford their Geissele 2 stage (G2S).

I can say I had 2 Geissele triggers and they both had creep. I have 2 Triggertech triggers and they have no creep.

YMMV

I replaced my ALG with a G2S, it's an outstanding trigger for the $$$.

No creep to speak of in mine, are you referring to the first stage?

As for passing on the Coffee, caffeinated is the only way to go with what I operate on the local roads. In fact you want me heavily caffeinated...

I run all Geissele triggers on my AR platform rifles. Flat trigger bow is my favorite. SD-E, SD-C and SD-3G. Once you go Geissele, you will never go back.
