AR-15's

Well it depends what "much money" means to you.

It is a custom gun, but since you can get a lower receiver and built up from that...
It is an easy project to achieve.

I purchased the upper from CLE(http://www.compasslake.com/), than a lower from Wolverine, etc

It will cost you less than an HK or Sig, will be more accurate, but it is restricted :(

My next project will be an accurise AR-10, and I'll follow the same path.
Hopefully it will look something like this

No!
I'm in montreal and bought it while the ban was effective, paid 800$us and had to modify it !

KIDDING ;)

Took the pic in Vermont and borrought the mag ...

I agree!! The AR's are twice the rifle as they are.I say this just because If you spend that kind of money on a Base AR you get a fully modified rifle!! My shorty has all the toys short of a nice muzzel break now but, even with my SIR 50C,Ace stock,G27 grip,ML2 scope,M16 bolt,KAC Vertical grip,M3 Tac light and soon to be here #40 flip up rear sight,I am still way under the price of one of those nasties!!

If you already have an AR, than all you need is to buy the upper.

Mine retails at 1100$us and ready to shoot, it will group with 45gr hornet up to 75gr bthp/amax.(no fuss finding a load that groups, this rifle will eat anything with reliabilty)
When I say group,I mean less than 1/2moa all the time!

I changed the recoil spring, added Tubb's weight system for the carrier, weight the stock to balance the rifle.

The lower is an Eagle Arms with the national match(2 stage) trigger.

I will shoot it at 600m in the next couple of weeks and will post pics of the targets, the bullet will be 75gr bthp(mag lenght) and Amax(single loaded).

If you are really interested in the accuracy potential of the AR plateform, the book " Black Magic" by John Feamster is a must,I first read is article in the "Precision Rifle" magasine and bought is book.

This book open my eyes on the rifle potential and had to buy one, I applied what I learned and to my surprise I was shooting tiny groups with ease.

I have not played with the AR as much as I would of liked because of the time spent shooting my 308 at 600/1000yds.

Still the AR has more than 5000rnds throught it and shoot great!

Here is one for all you guys out there.Who thinks the AR is more accurate than the Black Special or M96? I think so,but I have never shot an M96.But really,This AR on this topic is set up with all the accuracy plus stuff!! I still dont understand how those other rifles are so much more money.Non restricted is nice but not worth twice the price!!

I must say that the word "worth" is relative, we can not compare the AR system with the HK and SIG simply by their mecanic features.
If I had the money to purchase them I would, they are excellent rifles with interesting technology.

With the money available I choose accuracy and availability of aftermarket parts/system.
Being able to customise my guns is very important to me, it allows me to put in practice all I am learning about gun improvement.(accuracy, ergonomics, reliability, task specification)

Since we live in Kanada and our legislator choose to restrict one type while other are not is a big factor.
If you have to choose between spending 1500$ on an AR and travel 100km to be able to shoot it, or spend 3K and be able to hunt with it, well ...

I am very curious about the SIG sniper model that was available a couple of years ago for 5000$, wish I had the money at that time.
I also wish the owners of these rifle would post some targets and carateristics. ;)

And no mather which design you prefer it is nice to have to choice, would also be nice to have friends that own them so I could spend more time behind these rifle.
Learning about guns is never done and always fun :)

So if someone hit it on the head for a good answer,I would say this one is the best!!I figure if I had the money to buy such rifles I would too.I also think I would like to know about these rifles, more as well.Very hard to find info on these, even in the states!! The AR,in my opinion is very versitile with the aftermarket parts, like you said, and the overall availability of all the parts!!That was definaltely well put!!

Here's my newest toy, Colt Sporter Match HBAR (ie, AR15A2 in Colt's pre-AWB94 "politically correct" parlance  )

Hey buckshot. I see your Battlegrip fits about as well as mine  . I can't seem to get it
any further forward to make a nice flush fit. I wonder if this is common.
No biggie. Time for Mr. Dremel  .
Love the grip though.
Wish I had an 11.5" barrel though.
They are fun if you don't mind singed eyebrows  . Wish I had a Mid length 16"er.

AR 15 Pictures

Gentlemen Great Pictures
You must have every conceivable type of AR 15 that can be found. I have HAD just about every Black Rifle over the years and you name it I’ve probably had it. The variations you have would make any black rifle collector drool. I have a question about the great photographs, how do you get them on the site? I would appreciate any help you could give me. I guess I am still living in the bolt-action era when it comes to computers you are in the semi and full auto era.
Thanks

You got my blood flowing so I traded for a classic SP 1 Just finished the deal. Like starting all over again. Thanks for the inspiration.

As I am sure you may know, alot of the <14.5" AR's have 'failure to eject'
issues (among others). My 11.5" was no execption. FTE on almost every
round. I found the D-Fender to be the cure. And a cheap one at $12.

Ive had 11.5" barrel assemblies and have had no FTE problems whatsoever (knock on wood). Onlf eject problems were due to poor mags.

On the other hand mt 10.5" bbl was nothing but a failure to eject altogether, all sorts of problems.

Dont cut the bbl, just get a new one...
IMHO this might save you some headaches.
