AR-15's

Yes it is a fake raptor. I was about to buy a real new one but someone apear and propose it to me at a very low price (shipping include). So I taked a chance. He also said to me he have try it and it was working in his SIG M400 and is Diemaco C8... So maybe my Bolt carrier is out of spec?

I'm curious to know what is the milspec measurement of the "hooke" of a CH. From the top of the slide to the bottom of the hooke.

No new toys, but had a couple out and just started messing around snapping a few pics:

I can't believe how far back you mount your optics

Sounds like you found the problem. Another CGNer had issues with a similar knock-off Raptor CH. That guy sounds like he's selling airsoft parts as firearm parts. Go get you money back and buy the real one.

The chances of your bolt being THAT much out of spec is pretty slim.

No scope bite (yet), just comfy where it is I guess. My C7's set up that way, still fits in the crate with the other C7s, I'm still able to get 5 rounds under the small indicator at 100m the way it is. Not a whole lot of eye relief with those Elcans though, the brim of my helmet's always bumping against the eye piece unless I tilt the helmet up.

Lol, actually, I haven't even fired my SA20 or even taken it out of the house, not even to zero, but it should be the same?

If you run the butt fully extended all the time then chances are that you need to run the scope farther to the rear. If you are comfortable running Nose to charging handle, then you could probably move it forward. you may still have to extend the butt in the prone though.

Haha, to tell the truth, it's been a while since I last fired my C7, probably haven't touched it in about a year and a half, so next time we have a range ex, I'll mess around with it a bit.

I just dug up some pics from the last range ex and it looks like I don't even have the butt stock fully extended:

Come to think of it, I usually have my face right up against the Elcan, but there's so little recoil from the rifle, I probably have been kissed a few times by the scope, but nothing serious enough to make me keep my distance.

Anyway, I'm still a fairly inexperienced shooter, I placed horribly the one time I tried out for a Service Rifle match, so any tips are welcome. I saw Ryan Stacy (AKA Longshot) at the match, he was like a God and they carried him off as such on his throne when he won the match.....I didn't have a chance to talk to him or ask him for any tips, too bad. I placed 47th (or was it 49th) out of 97 guys......needless to say, they didn't ask me to try out again next year, lol!

Ya dude I feel you. I run my butt fully collapsed, almost always so my sight is about midway down the rail. Prone is such a b**** between the helmet and the sight though lol.

First tip would be to use the handguard as much as possible for the support hand in amost every position. You will acheve better lateral stbility as well as more control over the muzzle during rapid engagements. The closer your support hand is to the front sight, the better recoil mitigation you will have. This is more of a CQB thing though. At distances longer than 100m keeping your support hand between the slip ring and midway down the handguard will be ideal. this will depend on how long your arms are though.

beyond that, remember your marksmanship fundamentals and you will do fine.

Hold
Aim
Breathing
Instictive posture
Trigger control and shot follow through

If you want any othe pointers/ breakdown shoot me a PM. I'm happy to help in any way I can.

P.S.

for actual competition, ditch the cadex grip and rail. Its extra weight and does not offer much more. if you really want a grip, consider something like the magpul MOE grip (not the picatinny verson). you can mount that up directly to the HG and it is very light and fairly low profile.

Isn't it super hard to rack the action with the ocular right over the charging handle?
I found that was the case with the CF Charging handle. I had to move the ocular about 1 pic rail section in front of the ocular to properly use the charging handle.

Moved it from here about 6 sections forward. Properly set up the objective was 1" in front of handguard

I don't usually have a problem using the "claw" with the Elcan on top, but because your TT appears to sit lower, perhaps it's getting a bit in the way when you rack it? Also, I usually rack with my left hand and it doesn't require a lot of real estate to get it done.....are you attempting to use your right hand? I can see that being a problem if you follow the PAM, using your index and middle finger from your right hand to rack it.

Yeah I was, but now I got a raptor handle. By far 100x better. The Rings are 1.375". I'm thinking about a vortex 4-16, just waiting on more $$. Blew the budget for next 8 weeks on my new precision rig. Which Is what the TT was for. Right now Eotech is on AR, and TT is on my savage mk2.

My shorty's getting really cooked, but boy is it fun to shoot:

Also got a few new toys for my IUR:

Agreed. Donut and I seem to have similar tastes in rifles.

Haha, that is true.....but I have recently sinned and sold my FDE LE6920 :(

I was actually a little sad to see it go because it was my first US made AR and I only squeezed the trigger 5 times, but I had to make room in my safe for a new toy that takes up a lot of room.

The new owner is doing some mods to it, so hopefully he'll post pics of it soon!

Again, the similarities are astonishing - just sold my FDE 6920, as well! Had it mated to an IUR, and was really happy with it, but needed to free up cash for other things. Hope the new owner likes it as much as I did.
