Clearly a number of you have assembled your own AR's. I'm on the verge of finsishing my first one. My only concern is I don't have a upper block to set it in a vise. How crucial is it to have one? I know it would make the job easier but any tips/tricks for those that don't ahve one?

I suggest buying one. It really sucks when you crack an upper receiver. Id know. CTCS sells a good upper/lower block n wrench kit

You need the right tools to do the job right, and if like most of us, it won't be your last build!

Ya I bought it. For exactly the reason yourself and Death suggested. It certainly won't be my last one, man the AR bug gets you good!

Nice. Some very interesting setups there. Definitely not something you see everyday.
Can you post some specs/descriptions of those? I am curious to hear what I am looking at.
Also, it looks like the rear BUIS is mounted in front of the Elcan to the C7-ish configuration. Any particular reason for that?
