Ok I stand corrected, but I still don't see it....on THAT rifle.....
Anywhere I've ever seen them for sale have them listed for LEO/MIL only...
What civilian would want one anyway? Teargas down your cul-de-sac?
You can use them for fire 37mm flares and such, or even bear bangers if you can find them...
You can get the 12 gauge "flare" adapters for them as well, and fire 12 gauge flares and stuff...
Essentially, if you ever put a full power shotgun round in that thing (in the adapter), it would blow up in your face... and they have warnings on them about only using flares and other ultra low pressure stuff...
A firearm has to meet certain criteria to be considered a firearm... Must fire a projectile over 500 feet per second, or have a certain energy content (4.2 foot pounds of energy at the muzzle)
37mm launchers and ALL the available 37mm rounds that its designed to fire are under the 2 criteria, and thus it is not considered a firearm.
With the 40mm launchers, they basically messed around with ammo until they got it to exceed the feet per second rating, and got them classified as firearms, although IIRC they are still classed as "non restricted" due to the single-shot characteristics of 40mm launchers...
Some of the info I posted could be wrong, since a lot of it is second-hand knowledge so take it with a grain of salt
