Hey Guys....Just curious, is the AR-180B considered an non-restricted Firearm? I plan to join a Gun club soon and was thinking of upgrading my PAL to a RPAL and maybe get an AR-15 type platform for target shooting however a friend of mine told me that the AR-180B is a non-restricted...looked on google and found some conflicting info....thanks

Yes, they are non-restricted, as long as you get the model with the integral muzzle brake from the factory. Only problem is, they've been out of production since late 08 - early 09, and demand has upped the price on them, so don't expect to find a used one for around $1000 like you used to, unless you are extremely lucky. Most tend to go roughly in the $1400-1600 range, though I've seen some people ask much more, and on the rare occasion, less.

Whoops, I see NB_GSXR beat me to it.

Also, AR 15 =/= AR 180. They are completely different platforms. Do not get one of them expecting the same experience you would get from the other.

Classification issues aside, do some research and get the rifle you are most comfortable with.

You did a better job than I did anyway

Thanks Guys, They are pretty pricey from just doing a quick search with 1499.00 being one of the cheapest that I could find...yikes! ..I think I may just go with my original plan and upgrade my license and have a look at the AR-15.

It's all good. All that matters is that he got some good answers to the question and learned a little about the gun in the process.

That right there Is why I love this site so much, there is such a wealth of knowledge on this forum and with every visit I learn something new that I did not know before...thanks again guys.

I wish these would be made again and drop in price by flooding the Canadian market.

Like the Russian SKS that folks pay $180 for today used to be priced at $500 and up back in 2007.

Until just a little while ago I hadn't even heard of the AR-180B (I need to start reading more)...but you are right I think they would sell very nicely in Canada being non-restricted and if the price was reasonable.

^ The 180b is an awesome rifle. It is no AR15, its different platform but it is a great platform on its own. I love my to death, its accurate, it takes ar mags, looks good (there are prettier guns but oh well) and best of all NR.

I wish someone would start making them again, they'd sell like hotcakes up here.

I love my AR-180b. I just put a collapsible stock on her and she's just even better. Only real complaint I have is that the muzzle flash is quite large with the norinco ammo, but otherwise the rifle just continues to impress. It truly was worth every penny i put into her and only wish they still made more of them.

They sure would...I for one would buy one in a heartbeat if the price was reasonable.
