Ar builders plagued with ocd please help.

Granted there will be ones with shot out barrels but there are also collectors out there, CODfan is one of them who have awesome rifles and impressive collections that will still be pristine condition. The problem then becomes what would it take for those collectors to part with them. I would sell my arm, leg or first born child for COD's rifle. Anyone need a kidney...... ; )

His is used. The FSB was take off his barrel at one point.

I have always wanted a CC C8CQB for my CC collection. I have seen one on the EE but just didn’t have the means to purchase it from the member here, so I am going to build one. Parts I am going to need will be upper receiver, barrel assembly, BCG, CH and furniture. I see the hardest parts to acquire will be upper and barrel assy. Well last night I received one of those pieces. A CC stripped upper has now been added to my collection thanks to NMI. Since a CC CQB barrel will be next to impossible to find I have been looking at the DD 10.3 with FSB. Here in lays the problem. The CC upper does not have M4 cuts (I think it is a C7 upper) and the DD barrel uses A4 (enhanced M4) cuts. I know that M4 barrel to standard upper is “ok” but my OCD is not happy with me. I don’t know if I should consider a different stripped upper with M4 cuts and sell the CC or just build it anyways. Help me please with opinions, if you have OCD when building you will understand why I am racking my brain.

Side note: If anyone has a C8CQB upper, I have the Danish and this stripped upper plus cash to trade.

You could get an SA15.7 or SA20 upper. They have M4 cuts.

What does that matter? Your lower won’t be able to take a sear either so who cares?

I know that the fun switch isn't available, I am looking at it that I am trying to piece together an upper that some of our CF might have carried. Leg You have already given me the needed info to search for a barrel at 10". I had one awesome member offer me an upper but the FSP was slightly canted and I didn't go through with the purchase as I wouldn't have been able to use it with BUIS (if he is reading this I hope he knows how much it was appreciated). Right now I have a CC upper receiver from NMI just waiting for a barrel. Why does this have to be so hard??? So many variants and configurations.

Still digging for info and have some new questions for the experts.... Diemaco parts are so expensive and rare to source, I am going to use new CC parts for my build and here are the questions.

The RAS hand guard - Will the UK LOWER rail interface with the standard M4 RAS (from what I have read so far yes, just want a few opinions)? Would this then be a Canadian M4 RAS or a CAN/US bastard M4 RAS because of other slight variations in the upper portion?

I purchased a new CC upper receiver from NMI - From what I understand there is a slight difference between old Diemaco and new CC picatinny rail measurements (weaver to 1913). When the RAS is installed will there be any height difference between the upper and the hand guard rails or will they line up together true?

in regards to the FSB, I have been told that I will need an F marked sight post, but from what I have been reading CC uses a taller FSB sight post so they will co-witness with a flat top upper. Any other info would be helpful.

I already have the SAS. I am after the C8CQB/L119A1 style upper. I have the green carbine hand guard from an SA15.7 but to pull off the "look" I have to suck it up and spend the coin on the KAC M4 RAS. I just worry about the optics and BUIS aligning up. I have only been into firearms for about 5 years now so I still have a lot to learn. There are a few members here that have probably forgotten more then I will ever know and those are the guy that I need. With the help of CODfan, Derrob and a few others, I am slowly learning.

I think there are two RAS sets in EE right now.

As for clone correctness, I think you will need the older RIS set (odd number markings instead of even numbers), along with the Vero Beach markings on the covers.....you know, depending on your OCD level :)

Mister Donut, I am sure like most, my OCD is out weighted only by the funds in the wallet and the wife =). I Can't justify trying to find the RIS and would rather buy new RAS from KAC. I know cost will be more but I would rather have something new and shiny that I get to F&^k up all by myself. I am always scared of getting an airsoft part or something not quite up to par. At least new I know where it came from.

They pop up once in a while. The last time I checked, I did see two RAS sets in EE...I think the guy was asking $260 or something like that. That being said, I have seen them go for as low as $175.

I know its CC and not Diemaco but after years of wishing, wanting and waiting I finally have my "dream" parts. A few more and it will be ready for building and shooting the snot out of. What do you think? When I picked it up I had a smile from ear to ear.
