AR noobie norc or s&w

I have had my share of norico ar, Some worked fine some had issues the importer north sylva did not fixed them and took a long time to do so.
Now every body sells parts for ar so you should be a ble to get it work for a bit or you tine and money. If you buy from a reputable dealer that stands behind their product the that should be fine of if you buy one cheap that you will fix with north american parts that will work.

Either would be great; but at the present price point; S & W is finished a bit nicer. BTW, most mil-spec parts fit the Norinco; just not the buffer tube AFAIK.

I was ready to give up on the rifle, but loaded up a LAR mag with 10 rounds of my homemade varmint loads that I made for my Remington 78, and the rifle instantly went from a 4.5 MOA rifle to .75 MOA.
Nothing wrong with Norinco. Lots wrong with "American made" cheap ammo.

The tests happened....albeit over time...
I never did record video though but I assure you it took it like a champ
The only one I stopped short of was blasting it with #7 12ga but that's only because I had no ammo for the shotgun. Oh and the tanerrite. I did not manage to get that one done.
The rest were "applied" to my rifle and it survived functional and good to go!
We couldn't drag it down a road so we tied 20m of para cord to the muzzle and flung it round and round in a circle on the hard pack dirt for 2 minutes lolol. Went for a jog with it trailing it behind us.
I have a bunch of #7 and a pound of Tannerite, bring it over and I'll help you finish the testing

My first ar15 was a norc. Excellent gun. I regretted selling it so i bought a m&p15 off the EE for the same price. Its built nicer. Both function equally well. I havent done any mods so i dont know which accepts more mods. Probably the Smith ....

I wouldn't necessarily say the S&W has a better barrel. The chinese barrel will outlast the S&W barrel by a long while. Wasn't there someone here that shot out their S&W in 10,000 rounds?
I think only the very early ones had a weird buffer tube threading. The chinese buffer tube definitely takes commercial spec butt stocks and I've even seen a couple lately that had milspec tubes installed no problem.
I had keyholing with 2 M&P's after 10K rounds each. A Norinco is still shooting straight after 15K. Not MOA or anything but like 4-5" groups at 100.
Still, for most people I would take a S&W as it will probably take them awhile to get to 10K rounds, and they are more accurate than the Norinco for the most part- until they start keyholing.
They feel better than the Norincos too. But no doubt the Chinese AR's are hardcore workhorses. I rebarreled the S&W rifles with aero precision barrels.
Good to know they got a new lease on life!

John, don't be fooled and get thrown off his scent. This is Justin's doing and China is just responding to his foolishness. Don't get soft on us and believe the Liberals didn't have anything to do with this. Ask any Canola farmer or any farmer for that matter and they will tell you who is exactly to blame.
Extractors and their springs get worn. But that's common on AR15's. Maybe a firing pin broke, too? Can't remember. But nothing catastrophic.
