AR Parts from Brownells

Best to contact Brownells, and give them the stock numbers of the bits you wish to buy. They will tell you whether they can export.

Yes, you can.
Only upto 100USD and parts which are register with Dept State

I am waiting for few little parts coming from Brownells

I tried to order a factory front sight for $90 and got a letter stating that because it was an "AR" part, my order was denied by customs. I will bring the letter in to work tomorrow, scan it, and post it to prove it.

I have just ordered FS, but not the one I really wanted.
Not all manufacturers are registered with Dept of State and Brownells can not ship such parts.
Always check with Brownells before ordering, never order on-line.

WRONG. I ordered a Benelli M4 stock ($150.00) plus other small components, and they sipped it out just fine...my order came out to $250 ish

You can order springs, mags, cleaning stuff, etc, with your order coming out to $500, they'll ship it out just fine.

BUT...you cannot have a "gun-part" (barrel, trigger, etc) exceeding 100USD, THEN you need an export permit.

My order was just factory front sight, which I wouldn't class as a "rifle part(receiver, etc) or barrel", and under $100. Brownell said it would have no trouble, but somewhere in CBSA, there was an issue obviously.

Just to Brownells web site. Beside some items under " more info " . If you see the link "gun part" it will bring up a pop up window that says the following :

Gun Parts:

******Disregard this note if shipping in the US. This note only pertains to International orders.******"If gun parts exceed $100.00 OR an Action, Receiver, Frame, Cylinder, Barrel, Flash Hider or Military Scope is ordered a State Department License is required. If your order requires an export license our Export Department will contact you."

Please notice the OR after $100 . This is why its a pain to get flash hiders now

Always best to go to the source instead of asking on the internet. You will get lots of info, some of which will be incorrect

They are very good to talk to about what can be shipped, you just need to ask about permits on the items. They seem to have one person that deals strictly with Canada and she is very helpful. Phone them it is toll free.

Since when does the CBSA have the authority to deny a legal a factory front site? They must sleep good at night knowing that they are keeping our country free of foreign legal goods. I'd phone them and ask their reason for holding up your part. I've ordered front site posts from Brownell's within the last month as well with no problems.

I've been waiting for PMAG ranger plates for a month now, thinking they are stuck at CBSA, although the 10 other packs that I ordered the same week showed up just fine.

CBSA, what a good waste of taxpayers money. Let it come through customs, collect your valuable petty taxes you so desire.

Asses.

I did order a barrel and followed the procedures. I was easy. Get your Canadian import permit and send it with your order. Brownells ask and get the US Export permit. It take about 6 to 8 weeks for the whole thing : from shipping my request for the Canadian permit to receiving my barrel it took 2 months.

Whatever, some parts might not be shipped to Canada if the manufacturer is not registered with the US Export department. Others parts are not allowed out of the US. The only way to be 100 % sure is to make the request ( permit ) or call Brownells direct .
