AR pistols = 10 rd mags

A recent CFC ruling to Beretta Storm owners suggests that their Storm marked (rifle) mags need pinning but makes no mention of the use of otherwise identical M92 mags in the carbine.

IOW, the markings on the mags define whether it is for a pistol or a rifle ... and pistol mags can legally hold 10 rounds.

Soooo..... if they were marked for the ar pistol they would be legal for 10 rounds even in a rifle right? As long as it follows the same guidlines set for the storm.

I should be able to re register my Colt as a pistol, Its a 8" barrel.

Robert, you keep barking up the wrong tree ... there's no need, just use pistol mags in it. ;)

Your Colt AR is a short barrelled rifle because it was designed to be fired with 2 hands. Pistols are designed to be fired with one hand. Never mind that most pistols are fired using 2 hands these days ... its what they were originally designed to do (shoot using one hand).

All these new designs and concepts are putting a fair amount of strain on the limitations of the Firearms Act, bless its multi billion dollar price tag. :D

It does seem that way ... according to the CFC's own interpretations.

Probley gonna have to change the mag rules for ALL guns then...

I refer you to a prior post of mine in this thread:

I wouldn't be a bit surprised to see the 5 round limit changed to 10 across the board, both for handguns and semi auto rifles. This may just be a recognition of the 'new reality' about to be implemented ...

I expect the change may be to 10 rounds for all restricteds and semi autos, but who knows how this will get finally sorted out?

I'm hoping for outright elimination of mag limits of course, but who isn't? ;)

Theres NO difference between my Colt 9mm Carbine as it says on the reciever then to a LAR 9mm, Except mine has a buttstock which I can change VERY easy to not have one.

The markings on the receiver mean everything. Removing the butt doesn't make your's a pistol.

Why does it matter?

In any event, you just told us the difference, it has "CARBINE" marked on the receiver.

Ergo, its a carbine, not a pistol.

In the end its the SAME gun. Both can use LAR and AR mags. I dont see the point though. Both guns are still using UZI mags or AR15 mags. Just some are 5's and others 10's.

Makes NO F**king sence.

Which is why some bright spark in the Justice Dep't will hopefully see the light and ditch all mag limits.

The laws as they currently apply are as Stevo and I have described them. Remember, it doesn't have to make sense, its the law.

well here's a mind#### for you. what if i took a pistol mag that holds only ten rounds of 45. used it in a rifle and mag was filled with 15 rounds of 9mm. legal? yes according to thier own logic.

Sweet - I suspect a 10rnd "all around" law coming.

If not, I suspect the makers of 10rnd AR-Pistol mags to be VERY VERY busy supplying CANADA!!

:D

####ing nonesense, there is no such thing as a highcap mag, it's standard capacity for whatever it was designed for. We should all be shooting 30's in our AR's and Mini's and 15 or better in our semi auto pistols. this one thing pisses me off more than any other with this stupid set of laws we have. I'd love to see a mass protest with thousands of us on Parliment Hill with (to use the words Wendy loves), "so called" hi-cap mags. Lets see them arrest us all. #### YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Indeed. If someone is so inclined to be a *dumbf**k* with a firearm, the prohibition of an *object* will not halt he or she's actions. Period. The whole concept of prohibition is based on magical thinking.

I don't know why anyone would get excited over 10 rnd AR pistol mags when you could just get 30 rnd Remington pump mags and use those in your AR. This makes it even more evident that Questar, Wolverine and/or TSE need to get on the ball and place an order for a whole whackoff load of 30 rnd mags marked for the Remmy. MAKE IT HAPPEN GUYS I'VE GOT MY FIRST AR ON ORDER!

i agree how need 10rnds when we could get remmy mags 30rnds and we could also probably convince c-mag to do runs of beta marked remington ;-)

if you ask me they a screwed with the AR-15 just too much versatility.

also imagine the market we would get. just get a small shop in the US to start producing pump action glock mag carbine using 32rnds glock mag and new base plates marked pump action carbine. the possibility are just endless
