AR vs. M14??

I would have to see it to believe it that the chinese rifle is more accurate than the M1A. I highly doubt it.

The current M1A do not have chrome lined barrels and may in fact be slightly more accurate than the Norinco, but the Norinco should be more reliable than the M1A.

Fun is shooting lots and lots of .223.

M14S are $399.

I like shooting my M14, have a lot of fun with it, and would not not have one. But, I do shoot 1000 .223 for the price of $350 .308, and I shoot a lot.

So the only answer again is....

Both!

:)

As stated before, both.

However, as it is, I once needed the money to buy some equipment for another equally exciting hobby of mine, and the AR was the bank for me to get the stuff. I really had no qualms about parting with the AR knowing that I still had my M305. My reasoning was that the M305 is a more useful firearm for me. The AR has its tricks and bells, is wonderfully accurate, sweet to shoot and has that cool factor, yet I could only take it to the range when I wanted to shoot it. The 14, on the other hand, is also accurate, more rugged (in my opinion), and can serve not only as a range rifle, but also as one of the best hunting rifles I have ever owned. You can take it anywhere: camping, hunting, long trips, range, yada yada. The AR, when not on the range, is a safe queen or a dry-firing toy.

On the other hand, if all you want to do is go to the range, I'd say that the AR is to be preferred: cool, accurate, ergonomic, accessorisable ad infinitum ad nauseam.

It really comes down to what you want to do with your rifle.

I read threads like this all the time here and on other forums, and it always comes down to a guy's personal circumstances when he makes his choice.

Its really too bad the conservatives won't rehash the restricted and prohibited status rifles and only make the full autos restricted or prohibited. This is the exact reason I won't buy an AR is because I can't go shoot gophers or stuff off range with it.
