Archangel stock for the sks.

No more magic boxes and secrets! Everybody admits that the gas tube is the most problematic piece. Why magic boxes, hical?
That magic box drove me totally crazy.
So crazy, so I even decided to make a video right away.

Powerbaitron, It will take you 10 min or so after explanation:)
the video will be there in 2 hrs or so.

Look forward to seeing your vid for the handguard. I wish I had taken step by step pics of the sanding and fitting I did to make make it all work. In all honesty, I took pleasure in sanding and fitting the handguard but that's the kinda guy I am, others may not enjoy or appreciate that kind of attention to detail.

Gatehouse ,
The Russian SKS prices are 150 CaD at best or so for regular people to buy
If you don't know anyone in the field, I guess.
Tell us the place where currently even Chinese SKS is sold for 75CaD, I'll go there tomorrow. Thanks

The stock is sold for at least 180 CaD. So, I am not sure if you can get a better deal anywhere really.

Thus, it sums up 150 (at least) for SKS + 180 stock + the rail 50+ dollars, front handle is 20-50 $ + Tapco 5/20 Mag, which costs 17 USD and 50! CAD somehow, I don't even count the stock. So in this mod, it doesn't matter too much if SKS is 75 or 150 CaD, since all mods/ additions are much more expensive.
I
The limitation of the Wartak rail is that:
1. You cannot use the sights if the scope is broken
2. You cannot load stripper clips anymore in case SHTF
3. Some complain that the discharged shell may hit the scope
Just to name a few
But I agree it's the second best option

And yes, if you have Russian SKS, there will be fitting issues, big time! Most non-commercial reviewers on u-tube and here agree with that.

My rifle cost me $75. Which is why it's so damn funny throwing several hundred bucks of gear on it. You might have to spend more but mine was $75. :)

Your Wartak limitation list is also funny. Who cares about loading a rifle with stripper clips when you have detachable mags? Lots of rifles don't even come with iron sights but if one really cared about it (I don't ) I'd just put the rear sight and a couple small tools in my bag. It's easy to swap out. :)

Get the Archangel stock for sure!

Gatehouse,
Well, if you belong to survivalist movement, then your Wartak rail will be a No No.
Having the MAG doesn't exclude the loading procedure does it?
Then having a striper clip loading into your mag is much easier and faster than one by one manual way with the mag, right?
Of course, if you aren't a survivalist and use this gun for fun only w/ o additional options or potential, then yes, I agree w/ you Wartak rail looks cool, convenient and long as well.

Again about 75$ for your SKS, You'd agree that most of the people buy their SKSes in Whole Sales Sports, Cabelas, Canadian Tire etc, etc, and the price is much higher. Of course, you were lucky, may be you bought it 30 years ago ?
Show me plz the current price like that, I'd like to know where is that place, lots of my friends will go there and buy 5 SKSes/ per person for that price.
:)

I totally agree w/ you that my list looks funny, until SHTF and your scope is down and w/o iron sights, the rifle will be by enlarge useless and not precise on distances >50 m.
And then not being able to load from above...and spending 3-5 x times more time trying to load your gun with shaky hands....
Besides, loading the mag with the stripper clip, doesn't exclude the fact that you have a convenient MAG. Stripper clips is not a mag substitution, it is rather the effective loading procedure with the possibility to carry much more ammo on you.

Again all these doesn't matter if you use it for fun, until SHTF and then we'll see.

So what's the shop/ store address for current price of 75CaD for the Chinese SKS? Do they ship to Alberta?

Apparently, the uploading is slowing down, somehow, I will for sure have it on u-tube by tomorrow early AM. It still says 18% uploaded after 2 hrs :( of uploading.
This is a mock procedure, where I do not drill or sand paper things, but I show, step by step, what I did to the gas cover tube.

The other thing, which I didn't like is that the AK-style back plastic trapezium-like dummy AK cover is not removable, so you have to disassemble the whole thing just to get the cover off. This sucks. Deffinitely, not a Russian design by function, just a dummy look of it.

But, overall, I like the stock, this is the best on the market with all negative things to it.

THE BEST PIECE, why I even bothered about it was the MONOLITH HANDLE!!! VERY PRACTICAL.

WTF????

SHTF? Survivalist movement? This is a thread about cool bolt on accessories, not the zombie apocalypse!! :)

You should start a thread about how you are keeping your SKS as issued due to the impeding collapse of society. I'm sure there will be plenty of interest. :)

Although the bottom line really is that any "survivalist" is going to have a case of SKS rifles. Anything else is just being a wannabe. ;)

Hi guys,
Here is the video that I've promised on GAS TUBE for ARCHANGEL AASKS stock.
Something what people do not explain or hide in the magic box.

A+ :)

Well the post is about the coolest SKS stock , I agree, but it doesn't state "coolest scope mount" neither does it state "coolest SKS stock for fun only", right?
:) so everybody has their own vector of thinking, I suppose

And my question on the address of the magic store where SKSes are for 75 CaD is still unanswered.............. :(

Just bought one from Hi Cal

Put it on my $75 Chinese SKS :)

While I installed it (no fitting required on my rifle, didn't have to break out the dremel) I was indeed giggling about putting a $200 stock, $130 Rail, $250 scope, front grip and magazines, and $180 Talley rings on a $75 rifle :)

I've had SKS rifles for over 2 decades, but this is about as cool as it gets with an SKS. :)

Frankly, if I didn't want something cool looking for my clients to shoot (I run a gun rental/shooting business near Whistler BC) I probably wouldn't have bought the stock and accessories (rings and scope I had lying around). I have always enjoyed the SKS but if it was only me shooting it, I wouldn't have gone for it. But that would have been a real mistake, as I simply love the conversion :)

The Archangel stock and the Wartak rail are great additions to the SKS. Fun shooting, feels good, best scope mount for SKS I've seen, too. Thanks to Dave at Hi Caliber for talking me through the tacticooling of one of my SKS rifles. I didn't think it was too difficult, either. :)

I have the same setup: Archangel plus Wartak. Love it.

I added a "Kwik Pin" from Magwedge to make the takdown even easier. Just Google it.

Hi guys,
Here is the video that I've promised on GAS TUBE for ARCHANGEL AASKS stock.
Something what people do not explain or hide in the magic box.

Pretty good explanation. The description about sanding the bottom of the handguard was exactly the way I did it as well except I used a large sanding block. In addition, I also had to sand the front and back lip on the handguard before I could get the rear metal retainer on and line up the hole to replace the pin. The pins supplied with the stock are basically a rivet that needs pressure on one side while peening over the other which is pretty easy considering they are aluminum. Quick hit with the file finished it off. Thanks for putting together that quick explanation for others wanting to do the swap.

The answer to the price of this particular SKS is in my first post on this thread. ;)

The Q is not about the price, we know it's 75CaD,

The Q is about the store address, where it's sold for 75CaD for every client, not just 'coz the store owner Johnny knows you.

So, what's the address of the store, where SKSes are sold for 75CaD to any client?

You know, in the real World if you say A, say B.
If you explain how to assemble things, explain it not for the publicity and ego, but just so people understand. Do not do things in MAGIC BOXES plz!
Etc. this is how it was in old times of Wild West, this is how it's supposed to be now and in the future, I hope.

Thanks

Thanks, I appreciate it.

And we are still waiting for the STORE ADDRESS from Gatehouse, where SKSes are sold for just 75CaD to any client :)
Hopefully, sooner or later we'll get it.

Well he may have bought an SKS plus crate of ammo deal which if you remove the cost of a crate, the rifle ends up being pretty cheap. Just a guess though.

Looks like it has a pull ring on it? One of my clients would undoubtably yank on it and send parts flying. :)

I only take down SKS rifles for cleaning after hundreds of rounds, so the screws should work fine for me. :)

I don't use corrosive for that reason though- excessive cleaning!!

Well, why not telling us then, where is this nice deal happens? :) Or just telling us that he c :)annot tell 'coz it's a secret, like a magic box

Ok, I guess you can't figure it out, despite the hint. Just for you, I'll quote myself from my first post :

I've had SKS rifles for over 2 decades, but this is about as cool as it gets with an SKS.

I bought a crate of 5 SKS rifles from Lever Arms in Vancouver. $75 each. This is one of them.

Amigo Gatehouse,
We all can read, you didn't mention the ADDRESS and when exactly you bought that specific SKS. Buying it 2 or 3 decades ago doesn't count, we are talking about what is the current price.

Besides, the quote should look like this: I am saying this--> " I am saying this"

Your quote looks like this:
You say
I've had SKS rifles for over 2 decades, but this is about as cool as it gets with an SKS-->
( I do not see address here as we are asking)

Then you quote: "I bought a crate of 5 SKS rifles from Lever Arms in Vancouver. $75 each. This is one of them."

Is it a quote???? Really?

Do you tell us directly that that specific SKS for 75CaD was bought at that time? You bought 5 SKSes 2 decades ago.. I understand, then you are talking about SKS for 75CaD, is it the same one of those 5? Anyways you left me wondering, that's why I wanted smth like this: I bought SKS for 75CaD at such and such place 2 decades ago, however prices went up since. That would be self explanatory.

Again telling us that you've bought SKS for 75CaD 2 decades ago.. well, how relevant it is to the current prices?

So I do not agree with your irony and sarcastic laughs about installing hundreds of bucks on the rifle that priced at 75CaD 2 decades ago. Which you finally did , didn't you? you installed all those 300CaD or even more on 75CaD rifle? Right? Than why laughing about others?

Then we are discussing problems with the gas tube installation, if you installed it w/o problems, fine, you are an exception here, because at least 3-4 people had problems with it. You advertise HiCal that they guided you right after their video... Well, I am not sure how good it is, since MAGIC BOXES is something unacceptable, unless you make money from it. Moreover, you comment follows hical video right away.. I understand you are friends and support each other, but still, let's be honest and help each other w/o secrets and magic boxes and ironic laughs. Thank you.

All I can tell is that your stock looks good, the Picatinny rail for fun looks good and you were lucky 2 decades ago buying SKS for 75CaD and even then in some places it was as low as 40-50USD... but that was USD, though.

Thanks for finally clarifying things for us, simple people.
Enough on this.

You obviously have me confused for someone who gives a schit about how YOU would prefer ME to post. Laugh2

My rifle is a $75 SKS with hundreds of dollars of add ons. That's what it is. That's it, that's all. It's funny. It's ironic.

It's also not a big deal to anyone except you. Hopefully people can get back to discussing the stock rather than your SHTF fantasy gun or where and when I buy guns.

Gatehouse,
That exactly what we were trying to do before your ironic things.
I stated the PROS and CONS, I posted a couple of videos on the topic... what did you do, besides advertising HiCal?
Do your list of likes, dislikes, make a video for us, then I well take my hat off. Otherwise, it's not constructive.
Providing the picture and telling us: "I like it", it's like I love her and I don't care what my mother thinks :)
May be I have a different sense of humor or lack of thereof. May be it's a virtual communication thing, when it's difficult to see the funny irony and angry irony. I don't know.
At least we agree that the stock is cool:)
Thanks

Again, you have me confused with someone else. I don't care if you want me to make a video. I don't care if you find my post useful, or humorous, or anything else. I bought a stock, slapped it on and have shot a few boxes of ammo to zero the scope and do a bit of fun shooting. That's all.

You are the one that demanded to know an address and went off on SHTF tangents. I'm just posting my experience with my new gear. Maybe lighten up a bit, especially with a post that is full of :) faces.
