are 180 $ mosin suppose to be that bad :s?

The ones at my local canadian tire are mint, got svt 40 last week, the mosin must kick like a mule, svt sure does

You didn't get shafted...........you got a 180 buck rifle that probably works just fine.
Safe queens usually cost a whole lot more :)

i like character in these old war horses but that is a little overboard ,hopefully the soak trick will assist
i would hate to refinish one of these feels like erasing the history

I've seen a few worse. If the bore is okay then all is good. If you want to refinish it and there is the fun in all this, then it will look like new in very short order.

Military unissued is far different from commercial new, never mind military surplus. Dings and scrapes in woodwork are acceptable in all armies. Get a new savage and you will not have an issue.

Look for rust, deep scratches in the rifling and damage to the crown with a bore light (pen light). This rifle does look really rough!!! I'm not very fussy about looks but that's nasty...depending on what you where told about it. It may be very accurate and may have been a troop favorite? I think I'd look it over carefully before deciding whether to keep it or not.

I'd be pissed. A few dings on those old guns give it some character but that is a little too much for me.

The last batch of Mosins at CT Oromocto ALL looked just like that.
Makes me wonder if they came from the same shipment.
Still for 180 bucks, that's a sweet winter project.
