Are feral hogs a problem in Canada?

Huge problem. There aren't enough to shoot.

If you said the same thing in cafe full of rural folks in an area plagued with them...you'd be really unpopular.
They are a financial burden as they destroy crops, but you wish there were more?
Not a well thought out statement. It'd be like rural folks wishing a plague of cougars or raccoons upon your neighborhood, not a nice thing to wish on your neighbors.

you are right,

However, I think some of the farmers where i am at would prefer the hogs. at least when you shoot them you get some meat, unlike the coyote/wolves that are taking down livestock on a regular basis. Shoot them and there is nothing other than a deap predator.

It does vex me when someone says something moronic like "Wish there were more" concerning what is a problem situation...so they can voice their intent to hunt something they are obviously not informed on.
Go into a Coffee shop in Jenner or Buffalo, AB and spout off about how great the Elk situation is...you'd be lucky to not get a punch in the nose. I'd think Feral hogs are not dis-similar.
Wildlife problems cost local rural landowners considerable money, folks; show a little intelligence and class. If you want to help; then offer, but don't spout off about how great it is as you want to shoot something.

They have organized hunt parties in Europe & USA where they go on horseback with spears. That sounds pretty interesting.

There are not nearly as many here in Sask as there used to be as there was a very devout culling program a while back whereby a select few gov't butt-kissers got to fly around and shoot them. Didn't matter if they were on private land, etc.

I'm unsurprised that they didn't tell me about that.
