Are mosin 91/30 bolts interchangable with M38s?

Mosin headspace is on the rim of the cartridge and not on the chamber. This makes it very easy to swap parts. You drop a dozen of bolt heads on the table from different rifles and they all will fit all other bolts. because dimensions of each 7.62x54R cartridge is the same. So yes 91/30 bolt head is interchangeable with m38

One advantage of removable bolt heads is that to change the head spacing you just need to change the bolt head.

The Lee-Enfield is another example of adjusting head space by changing the bolt head.

In a Mauser you need to change the whole bolt or adjust the barrel to change the head spacing, much more complicated and expensive.

I shot a young buck last year with my M44 using the turned-down-handle bolt from my 91/30. No issues at all.

Yes, but make sure to check that the bolt will close on a round.
At the range you will also find out if the bolt will open and eject a spent case.
Bring a spare/extra/the original bolt with you so you aren't dead in the water if you run into issues.

Yes, but headspacing might be an issue so use the original bolt head

This. From my understanding they're similar to the Lee Enfield in that you can swap bolt components at will so long as you keep the proper bolt head. Check firing pin protrusion after switching out bits to make sure you won't pierce primers. The little notches on the Soviet multitool that comes with them serve as a go/no go gauge for this purpose....

Would it be easy to do a M38 swap out then on lets say the whole bolt and reciver and just swap barrels on a bubbhad one? I am looking into restoring a M38 with my regular 91/30 and putting all the "custom" parts of the 91/30
