Are old-stock NIB P7M8's and P7M13's going to be available for $1,400 to $1,500?

Get over yourself. Just because there's Japanese people in the sentence doesn't mean he's racist, it means they bought all the guitars.
I realize that, but it sounds like in his analogy he's the guitar player and us plebeians are the know-nothing tourists. It comes across a little elitist rather than racist. Actually, it comes across really elitist, and I'm not sure that was his intent.

OOO! Stop with all this eye candy please! If I don't get one I will be heart broken (and you will have to sell me one of yours lol!)

Here's some boner-inducing P7 shots to get you guys excited about the possibility of P7 treasures being uncovered in Europe and shipped to Canada.

Electrobug finally (and very kindly) agreed to sell me his blue P7M10. He and I taked about this deal off-and-on for about 2.5 years, while doing other deals. And in all that time, I never saw or heard of another one coming up for sale in Canada - although I did see a couple of nickle ones for sale in that time. Gives you and idea of how crazy rare and desirable these things are. Beautiful, beautiful firearm. Thank you Electrobug!

Here is a basically (for Canada, where the P7K3 is verboten) a "complete" collection of P7 pistols with the tastefull old-style U.S. import engravings (before Bill Clinton came along and pistols started to have warnings written on them) ... which I really like. Sometimes I feel the "direct from Europe" pistols look a bit naked without the big "HK" logo on the right side. There is at least one each here of the "Arlington" (the 1980 PSP), "Chantilly" (the 1984 M13) and "Sterling" (the 1989 M8 and the 1992 M10) pistols here. Ever wonder where Arlington, Chantilly and Sterling Virginia are? You've heard of Arlington National Cemetary across from Washington, DC... well I learned that the other two are in the same general area. Suburbs of D.C. on the Virgina side. Gives you a pretty good idea of who HK has always tried to sell their products to.

I've missed my p7m13 for way too long. Hopefully this happens in the near future. It's the only handgun I've ever sold and missed.

Don't worry about it man. It's not a big deal one way or the other. It's just a lighthearted joke I'm recalling from an old magazine. They could be American tourists or whatever you want. The humour comes from the idea that this is what we all dream about (in our respective hobbies) but that these scenarios, either of them, never actually play out in real life anyway... we just keep dreaming about them!! :) In guitars, the 1950s Gibsons and Fenders that you find for sale are in a showroom on 48th Street in NYC, or something similar, going for the full market value and then some. Über collectible firearms are obviously the same way (not 48th Street maybe, but gunbroker or whatever).

I might come across as an elitist dickhead sometimes, but I'm actually not all bad. Some of the guys I know have collections that make me feel like more of a Roman slave than a Plebeian with the little bit of stuff I've got, but it's not about what toys you have, it's about your passion for the hobby.

I say we try and goad Electrobug or Nemo or some of the other Über Collectors into showing us some pics of some of their collection!

I'm going to put some more photos up when I get home from work too.

Edit: Some M13/M10 comparison photos. The M10 is not as big and bulky and I thought it was going to be. It's heavy and solid. But it is not really any bigger than a lot of other bulky guns. Eventually I will get some comparison shots with it and the USP and GLOCK.

Please excuse my ignorance regarding these pistols, I'm new to the game. What makes these guns so desirable?

My own thoughts: An engineering design different from, and on a different level from, every other pistol, before or since. Plus, they are really great shooters! Easy to shoot, accurate, reliable. They look cool too! But for me the real draw for me is their uniqueness. So much engineering brainpower packed into a compact all-steel pistol.

Here's what HK had to say about it back in 1988:

Even if they were expensive to produce, I'm sure that some gunnutz like us would pay for a new HKP7...... Why they stopped the production :(
Too high a production price for too few sales, I'd say. They can make more profit selling more traditionally-styled polymer-framed pistols like the HK45, USP and P30. I like the newer designs OK (and have owned...I think...five of them), but really they aren't revolutionary pistols like the P7 or P9S...I heard them described on another forum as "plastic SIGs", and while that's maybe a little pejorative, I don't think it's too far from the truth.

When the police surplus PSP's became available, all we ever got were the 'B' and 'C' grade guns... almost all of which were marked "NDS" (came from the same state police agency). All the really nice, unique, valuable ones went to the U.S. - and in both countries they sold out rapidly. Our 'B' and 'C' grade pistols (sold by ArmsEAST and others) sold for about $1,100 each... used police guns... and that was about 6 years ago.

I thought our price was about $850?

It might have been, but that was for one mag without taxes or shipping I think. It was a long time ago, and I just remember my bill closing in on about $1,100, but I think that was two mags, taxes in, shipping in. I could be wrong. It was back in 2007 I think. I bought and sold several of those "NDS" guns over the years. The prices always seemed to climb. My point was just that... even worn-finish police surplus guns never went dirt cheap. NIB or "as new" guns won't go dirt cheap either.

Just an FYI, I met with the importer at SHOT. We bought all of them and they are now in Canada. I haven't physically seen them yet but I should have them in my hands in the next 7-10 days if not sooner. Due to the crappy dollar they may be a little bit more but I don't don't expect much more that what I figured before. Final price will be posted once I figure out freight, dollar etc.
