Are older 870's worth more?

I always hear of people claiming 870's from the 90's and earlier are built better and are more reliable than newer models as quality has apparently went down the tubes. I'm wondering if I should list it at the same price newer guns are being sold for, less because it's older, or more because it's apparently better quality. Just looking to maximize my return (this gun was a trade) and list it for the right price.

Are they really better and does this justify a higher price?

There are other older threads on this topic and, of course, some people disagree, but most people believe that the older 870’s are better. Generally, people are talking about older wingmasters; I’m not sure when the express ones started getting made. I’m not sure if an older wingmaster would command a higher price in some tiny, realatively unknown LGS in a small town or not, but people on CGN definitely pay more for them. Many people are not impressed with the newest express models and some even prefer the Chinese models to these. New wingmasters are said to still be very good. An old wingmaster is not worth what a new wingmaster commands, but it should fetch a decent price cause people do prefer term to the express models. Scan the EE for price suggestions as people will advertise if it’s an old wingmaster for that reason.

Are vintage ones " wingmasters" worth more. NOPE unless super special and rare like a factory 16ga SKEET
Choke tube fitted 870's always get a higher price and rightfully so
What are you selling?? gauge, choke etc etc the boys here will give you a value
Cheers

Don't always believe what you hear all wingmaster's are excellent no matter what year as for the rest of the 870 line not much quality with that line

How about expanding on that blanket statement with no substance
All I remember in my dad's shop in the 60's and 70's was the odd one for an ejector or extractor and people upgrading the wood on them
Enlighten us please
Cheers

I am starting to get the feeling a few of these old remingtons kicked your ass back in the day
Remember one thing the stick didnot make the shooter with your fancy guns
Nothing I loved more was proving that
Cheers

If you haven't been out shot by a pre-puberty young girl, old men that can't open a jar of pickles, wheel chair shooters, people who just had cataract surgery, heart attack victims, beginners in the sport, short people, fat people, rich people, poor people,

You simply haven't shot much.

I am sure we all would at some point get out shot by an 870 if anybody actually shot them…

They sure shot them in the 60's and 70's and I shot a lot I may add. Unfortunately you we not shooting then that is clear to remember them
I think you already questioned my numbers did you not :) and I hope there is no butt hurt here
The racks were full of those two barrel sets of 870's one skeet/ one trap
No where did I say today to spank. Note "back in the day"
I am not sure what the rest has to do with anything unless they all shoot krieghoffs etc and I would fill seven of your nine groups listed LOL and if you ever see one of these seven groups stepping up with an old 870 better lock your hat on and I will say Hello

Then it is game on :)
Cheers

Must be difficult to live in the past and the once upon a time gets really old, 50-60 years old…

In another 20 years will these be the good old days too?

Say hello to the fella disrupting a squad opening blister packs of 870 parts to keep it running will do!

Who lives in the past. Not me.Is it a crime to talk about it
Unless you own a gun shop as my dad did.I don't care of you live to 100 you will never experience what I have with guns in my life time, nor will you ever own or shoot the vast amounts or manufacturers I have
In fact I feel sorry for young guys today especially when we talk guns, you cannot even own today what I shot legally in my back yard, try walking down the street with your shotgun over your shoulder, or buying your ammo at the local candy store, taking your shotgun to school and no one even looks at you, ordering parts by mail from the US and no issues or itar. I can go on and on. If they are not the good old days I don't know what is
Overall the stage of firearm ownership today is quite sad and it is not going to get any better. Too bad you would have had to live it in the past to fully understand what we have lost over the last 50-60 years and more to come IMO
Cheers

Darn it I missed out on surplus FN rifles that I could shoot in my back yard.

Them side shields on those shooting glasses must really block out a lot if you can't see how many more products and better products are available today then from yesterday.

Not sure what life experience you had where you constancy have to mention higher priced guns then the ones you own and then look down on those that do. Sad really.
