I have read a few different posts on this. I just bought a new GSG 1911. Are they still prone to breaking the guide rod? Anything else I should be aware of?

I think those issues were with the older models. I haven't heard of anyone with a newer pistol having any problems. I have 2-3k thru mine and it's all good.

no is the short answer
8000+ through mine no issues the issues you have read about were addressed and fixed by the manufacturer a while ago now

Just ordered one! i hope it runs well. sounds like all of them take a break in period to wear the paint off the inside of the slide

My GSG1911 has run solid for quite some time. Mine was an early model with the original guide rod design. I've probably run about 5000 rounds through it. I proactively changed the guide rod to a GSGPro full length stainless rod and their spring, as well as changed the barrel bushing. Feed it a steady diet of Blazer and never have any issues with it. The finish is crap however and is wearing off quite bad in several places. I bought it as a shooter though.. so I'm impartial about this wear.

Accuracy is still great. I have no problems hitting 8" steel gongs at 40 yards.

For you guys with the high round counts are there issues with the slide lock mis-forming the notch, that's one of the few bad things I've heard about these.

I'm well over 10k rounds. Occasional fte but it has been solid.

It gets bore snaked every few trips, never been stripped for cleaning (it is filthy) Rubber washer left the building about a year ago.

I'm on a mission to destroy this thing, but she keeps going bang! I always use hv ammo

My Buffer disk when kaboom-squishy after approx. 1000 rds.... I emailed BLueLine, they said they'd send out replacment that day..... 2 weeks went by , nothing..... I re-sent email, and was advised that there was restructuring and a new division of BlueLine was handling warranty..... so I resent email AGAIN to the new address, asking to be contacted re: replacement parts, still nothing..... maybe third time lucky?? All I know is that the GSG is a wonderfully FUN gun, when its working so I hope to get mine fixed soon 8-(

Please PM me your information and I will have it taken care of immediately.

Cheers,
Ryan
