Are you happy with your T97?

If you buy it expecting some kind of super rifle you will be disappointed. The safety is ridiculous, the mag changes are queer and the sights are something else...

I love the little bastard.

I just need to figure out what magazines to buy for it and what type of optic.

pmag gen2 moe, out of all the pmags i have tried these work the best. Fit easy and drop no problem and no modification needed.

Hideous little thing, no weight to it...

I love it already. It's short, light, points beautifully, and I don't use safeties enough to care about it. I've already gotten used to the mag release, and mods have already been done, that will no doubt be available soon. My 14.5" Ar with quad rail weighs a tonne, and feels badly balanced when held after the type 97, though it's ergonomics are far superior. Improve the ergos, and the type 97nsr will be a winner in that contest.

Love mine. Can't wait to take her out again.. Once I got used to the TRS-25 I was having some INSANE groups with it.

A TRS25 was what I was thinking of eventually getting for one of these. What kind of mount did you mount it with?

I'm sure that they'd be fun to shoot for a while with the irons, but in light of the short sight radius I would imagine that most shooters would really benefit from such a simple addition.

No special mount, just the CanAm rail. I like it better than the airsoft rails because it has 4 screws so it grasps onto the Chinese rail more firmly even though the Clobb rail from SFRC is even better as it allows you to use your factory peep. Almost came to the point of giving Ryan a call and then I heard about the interesting little project that m14.ca is doing ;)

Love it - it's a nice shooting gun. Had some FTF's on 2nd last round a few times with frangible 5.56, but it's solid with the real stuff.

Nice little rifle but does require a bit of smoothing to get it working just right. On mine I had to file down part of he magazine catch and lighten the mag release spring to get magazines to insert reliably. Still need bit more work as the LAR mags don't drop free as well as I'd like.

Sights are good and no other mechanical issues. It's a light and fun rifle to shoot but will not replace the AR platform in competition / combat rolls and it's absolutely a keeper. With the amount of attention we can look forward to an ever increasing variety of aftermarket accessories.

It's really fun to shoot, very accurate, but the bullet setback issue is a pretty big deal.

Lesser deals are the mag release and safety.
