Ares Defense G-35 Gas Piston Kit

oh well

Guess no one has used it...

Of anyone here, I thought KevinB would have a relative opinion.

I don't care about exports or about a rail system

Gas Piston kit

My kit is on the way... I will be installing it next week... then test. I have known about this product for a long time.

It is the cheepest way to move to a piston system.

I believe it is the way to go, if you are a high volume shooter and don't like to clean your equipment.

I will pass until the factory can come up with some data about expected life.....until then it is more of a hobby kit that has not been tested.

Well, if they call themselves a "defence" company then they should not be selling kits straightly for hobby, that they could not demonstrate data in regard to life expectancy and durability. I just kinda laugh when they told people they could not provide these information because there are too many variables. Read: " we have not done any testing at all!" I am very sketical after the Shrike ordeal. How can you trust a company who took out interest-free loan from would be purchasers for 3 years with no product delivery?? For a company with such track record, I want to see numbers on the paper.

And read ARF, sheared gas tube roll pin - apparently they have not done their homework yet.

And how the weakness of a retrofit will show up.
Dumb it down a shade there for me troop, the retrofit is weak in design or the 50yr old rifle design has a weakness because they can retrofit a pistion to it,or option "C",pistion operated systems are the latest ,hottest must have, can't live without thing???

How is this any different from all the other pistion system showing up everyday based on Stoners AR15 .

Very few G35 kit owners have been able to get theirs to work without extensive mods...
Denny of GTS posted his success with a kit on ARF which kinda led to a rush on them -- but other than that, not many users have had good luck -- could be an instal problem -- but a lot of people have had to end us cutting the barrel nut and fitting a sleeve to guide the op rod

FWIW its looking more and more like the LWRC is the more viable piston option -- and even then reports on them range the spectrum too.

I'm still an inpingment fan for everything but very select usage, and even then I think its doable.

YMMV
