argh,.bad ideas at GLobal Village

whats the reasoning behind only minor in open? ssems pretty pointless. must be trying to protect the childeren of the world from the misguided few who push their loads to far and blow the gun up. What next, velcro shoes only so know one trips on a lace during the stage?

If we have to make our cz shadows have a heavier single action to make it closer to a striker fired pistol, then we should be able to shoot all shots in single action and not have that long double action first shot.:kickInTheNuts:

The DA first shot seems overwhelmingly difficult to an IPSC beginner.
I remember when pressing that long 10# trigger took forever.

Learning that most if not all of the huge DA poundage can readily be taken up during presentation would help beginners...maybe something to add to the BB course.

Doing it right takes time and ammo.
It also requires a huge cognitive leap.

Maybe we should just go straight to nerf guns and be done with it. If it saves just one life.....

what are these "special" OEM parts? you mean the parts actually made by the manufacturer which provide a better trigger

Everyone I know with a Shadow has added special order 'oem' parts from CZ. Hardly seems like an off the shelf or entry level division if special order parts are needed (or perceived to be necessary).

Yes it would be great if all manufacturers made better guns, and that is happening - but Production div. has already halted the capacity race, why not the 'I need mailorder grips, springs & sights' race...

Doesn't really matter to me either way, I'm cheering for "team HK" :D:D

Because all people have different hands, heights, eyes and many other physical differences. There is no reason to force everyone to shoot a gun that doesn't fit you.

Right, so why not level the field between hammer & striker guns so those with different hands etc. are able to 'compete' with a gun that fits them? Rather than a gun that must be retrofitted with oem parts to fit??

Sounds like we agree that this isn't such a bad idea?? lol

If this helps encourage people to start shooting IPSC with guns they already have it would be a good idea.

No, we are not. I don't know what you referring to factory parts. I am shooting a factory CZ with grips to fit my large hands and main spring to work for 5lb DA and recoil spring that work for minor PF. Nothing else is done to the gun.

There is no reason to make everyone shoot crappy gun just because some manufacturers are not able to produce a good ones.

the urge to tinker

Production's goal of making IPSC 'affordable' by forbidding 99.9% of mods (i.e. preventing an arms race of custom parts & gunsmithing) is a well-intentioned idea. But it overlooks that the real costs are ammo, travel, range and match fees.

Then there's how that 'first HG' purchase is made. Seems like the Production rules assume that folk new to the sport will know to purchase the gun that 'fits' them best, that has optimal ergonomics, that shoots well in their hands. But the reality is that many don't - they buy what their friend likes, what's touted on the net, what strikes their fancy. Most newcomers have no idea, no concept, of how important ergonomics is to dynamic gun handling, let alone how dynamic IPSC is.

For many, once the gun-specific holster & half-dozen mags are purchased, the die is cast. Getting another HG is prohibitive. So folk do what they must to make what they have work for them.

imo, that's part of what drives the urge to tinker.

GOD,..Am I agreeing with you:confused:

I guess so. So what if I get thinner grips,...as I have smaller hands. Team HK be damned,...I love the HK...but the grip of a USP for ME,,,,,,,does not compare to a tanfoglio or CZ. They are on the right track with the P30 series..

on the global village this is getting deeper,...I don't think he (Vince)gets it. I don't even shoot a CZ, and I think this is a s**tty proposal. It would barely effect me as I shoot a tangfolio. My trigger hovers around 3lbs..

essentially,...more rules for the rule "persons" to try and CONTROL things. I would like to see Production rules more like USPSA rules. It comes down to shooting abilities with a DA first shot, no magwell, and scored minor with a holster than resembles something you would carry with for CCW.

You already can but you'll be placed in Standard with safety on/ safety off but then you're shooting minor against major in the same division unless you're shooting a CZ in .40cal

And Rob (Elliot), Vince has a proposal to make Open scored in Minor only. Not a joke.

Hmmmm.... if that happens I may really consider switching to Open... be like shooting an airsoft.

Sh*T... those airsoft used for Action Air cost just as much if not more then the real steel.

And every top level Glock shooter I know uses mail order Glock parts. So what's the difference?

Honestly, I'm not big on new rules, but if the intention of the division is to have competition with stock 'from the factory' pistols, then limiting tinkering and the perceived need for additional factory parts makes sense. Maybe only to me I guess??

not many production guns out there that are in the same configuration as when thry were bought. higher chance of finding that in standard

while I am here,...I would like to say HI to the little spies from Vince's website....I predict myself getting banned from there...that is how it usually goes; you disagree with him and away you go. I am sure his heart is in the right place, ...but the upstairs I have to wonder?!
