Arma-Coat GSG 1911 project

Yes those are the ones

@MrSharp,

Where did you pickup those baseplates for your magazines? Also, did you simply polish the front bushing, or is that an aftermarket one?

Thanks so much,
Cal.

Do you have any tips on taking the firing pin out? Thats the only part on this gun I cant take apart and there are no guides on how to do it.

I couldn't shoot Winchester in my GSG when I had it. It ate almost everything else (when clean), loved high velocity CCI Stingers, etc.

Nice GSG project up there.

Win XPert was the most accurate bulk ammo for my GSG (Tried Rem, Fed, CCI, Win). Get about same occasional FTF as Blazer. Mini-Mags are slightly better, so are stingers but not worth the extra cost.

My understandiing (info on the internet..not always a good thing) is the front sight is too low resulting in groupings up to 12" high at 25yrds even with the rear cranked down. Any truth in this before I plunk my hard earned money down on a set?
I'm already using the stock (3-dot) tallest sight.....and it looks a little weird for my tastes. I would choke on an extra "tall" FO sight.
Also, while my Sig1911-22 runs like a clock on CCI HV ammo I'm happy shooting it with Win555's and the occasional hiccup.

Polished the feed ramp, broke it in with cci mini mags, then fed bulk all the way........ Really reliable so far, around 8000 rounds, no issues whatsoever...
Finish was wearing pretty quickly so I stripped and polished the slide, added American legend grips, and that's it....
Still on my first buffer and original zink guide rod........Some great looking pistols guys.

26 + Tax + ship . so pretty much over double the cost for no reason. I just added them to one of my brownells order to hit the 100$ limit.

I read on the 1911 forum that some people had good luck with them. Plastic Or metal doesn't bother me one bit when I punch paper.

You have a valid point if you have to add the shipping. Good thing for me Al Flaherty's is a small cup of coffee drive away.
My only concern about the polymer mags is if they will drop free due to their light weight. I hope they work out for you.

Some of you guys are defiantly lucky living close to gun stores. Unfortunately for me I live in N.S so no cool gun stores anywhere....

I had my wifes Kimber Rimfire Target model arma-coated a couple of years back and had similar problems. The interior and rails of the gun were coated and the .22 LR doesn't generate enough pressure to overcome the resistance the coating causes. I spent 3 nights, diligantly cleaning the rails and scrapping the interior so as not to damage the external coating. Scrape for a couple of hours, take it to the range, back scrape some more, until it functioned flawlessly.

A friend of mine in the USA bought a rear adjustable sight and a neon rod front sight kit for the GSG from a US supplier. The front sight was not high enough and he can't get the rear sight down far enough and he is not happy. I suspect Mr Dlask got those sights from the same supplier.
Anyway I understand Mr Dlask is no longer in the business, so that is why he did not reply to my order for his GSG sights, and good job too if the front sight is of the incorrect height.
Very annoying...

I just got a set of front and back from Dlask, looks like they are made in house, stamped Dlask on the rear sight, front is different from Dawson precision too. Not sure what you mean by no longer in the business?
Anyway if your US buddy bought from DP, they will do a swap for the taller front sight.
