Armalite AR180B Frequently Asked Questions, revised Dec. 26/07

I may have missed this while browsing the FAQ. If it has been commented on refer me there please.....

Anyways, can the AR180b be retrofitted with a different/aftermarket muzzle brake?

Work on your reading comprehension. There is a section in the FAQ that specifically answers this.

Armie,
Thanks. I did a quick browse late at night (rather early am) so I must have gleaned over it without noticing it. I did think it was an obvious topic and was surely discussed.....me bad.
Thanks bud.

I'm wondering if anybody has mounted, or thought about mounting a Magpul PRS stock on their 180? I have a stormwerks adaptor type 2. I assume I'd need a buffer tube, is that correct? If I call Wolverine, do I just ask for a "buffer tube" for an ar15 along with the stock?

thanks

When you try putting a rifle stock on the carbine adapter you end up with an unsightly gap.
Also there is no way to keep the stock from rotating as there is nowhere for the locating button to fit into.

thanks for the advice guys - going with a m4 type, and midwest forearm, harris bipod/quick detach, magpul handguards, and some 10 rd pistol mags - looking forward to getting this all together. Will post a pic when I do. I had this gun out for the first time on Sat, and really enjoyed it. I'm not a good shooter, but was slowly bringing my groups down to acceptable levels. I think the trigger is a hinderance to accuracy due to a fairly heavy pull. Wolverine doesnt have any kits in stock right now, any suggestions?

Parts arrived today! I'm very impressed with the quality of the MI forearm - very well made. Thanks to wolverine, josh and armedsask for your parts and advice. Only thing left to try is the trigger mod, but I think I'll wait till I have one on order first.

parts list:
Midwest Industries tactical forearm
Rock River Arms butt stock kit (stormwerkz adaptor)
Magpul Rail panels
Harris 9-13" bipod w/ARMS throw lever adaptor
MI scope rail
Bushnell Elite 3200 3-9x50

Newbie question but... : Would an AR upper fit on the AR180B?? Or is there a way to have a different barrel?? Anyone ever heard of a shop who already worked on these little beasts???

oh you are gonna get a flaming...
It's actually a valid question, at least the different barrel part.

Apprently the AR15 and AR180B barrels both have the same threads. Theoretically, one should be able to thread an AR15 barrel into the AR180B receiver. This isn't just a simple swap. They head space would have to be set and the gas port most likely will not line up. I plan to buy an AR15 barrel with out a gas port, install it (or try to), and drill the gas port myself.

Wait, did I already answer this?

I think you did, but since I'm supposedly senile I can't remember whether it was here or on arf.com:D
