Armalite AR180B Frequently Asked Questions, revised Dec. 26/07

I just took a sip of the k-mart koolaid. Now to mod this new project gun up!

I kept the EOTech from my PE-90 that I just sold so I guess I need some parts to mount her up.

God damn, you guyus were right, this is no AR15!:p

Ok...I am going up the valley to shoot the crap outta this thing.

A few questions for you guys,

What is required to mount the Stormworks rail? Should I go regular or extended (Iam only using an EOTech).

What is you fave aftermarket stock? Skeleton folder? M4 style?

That is all I need to know for now.

Thanks!

..................

I cranked 150rds outa her just now. The second last rd in the oem mag will not cycle into battery....Prolly a mag spring issue.

Does anyone know of a houge type rubber grip or anything else? The oem one is fugly.
The furniture is fugly ice cream bucket quality crap too.

I ordered a MI for rail and scope mnt from Ryan at Wolverine before I went out so that solves that.

Now I needs me a new stock and to buff the feedramps as there were several ftf issues.

Sweet little gun all the same and a hell of a great project base! I was hitting 1l milk jugs at 150+meters with the irons so it's all good in that dept...Better than my sorry ass will ever be.

Thanks Armedsask. All the info on the AR180B is great!

I only recieved mine a month ago and absolutely love it just as it is.
Brings a tear to my eye reminding me of my old C1 in some ways. Beautiful rifle in its' own right though.

Now do I want another one, just so I can modify it???

The dollar just went up, the rifles were ordered and paid for long before the US dollar dropped.

Like Bryce says, give it a year, they might get to the $659US level found on gunbroker.

Pisses me off royally. I realize that Canadian firearms dealers are working on weak margins but for a $400.00 price differnce give me a break.

I just finished building a smokin' hot AR for a fellow board member. Time was 4 hours, my profit was $44.79.

There are some guys selling used ARs on the EE for twice the going rate in the US for new ones. It is not fair for the major dealers in Canada to advertise a $385.US DPMS barreled upper for close to 550.00.

As an example, my recent build was a DPMS AP4 14.5 " Wilson, chrome lined 1/9. It was mated to a well known lower using DPMS internals(bolt and carrier chromed).

Total cost for this hand built AR was about $1050 CDN including a 2 piece quad rail forearm from YHM. But you know what, I love building them. That's why I do it cheap.

PS: TO EPPS, WOLVERINE, MILARM and MARSTAR.. Send me your custom gun work. What you can't do, I can.:p

That's all I know. Heard from a reliable source who had a direct conversation with some one at Armalite who, when informed of my venture, said they have been working on an aluminum lower for some time.

Seems I may have to drop the billet lower idea and focus everything on the non-restricted FAL equivalent.

An Ar180B with and MagPul CTR stock, MI rails and custom top rail would be my perfect truck gun (A2 FH too).

Has anyone gone this route with their builds???

The 10 round mags make them even more appealing :)

Right now I am still waiting for the scope rail to come in, but am most likely going to be ordering the MI railed forends from Wolverine right away, and then next will be the re-barreling..... My project is underway, slowly but surely..... I am thinking of topping it off with an Elcan digitalhunter, any input on it?

Also, are there any retailers in Canada that sell 10rnd. mags? (Pinned of course) Or is there such thing as 5rnd. AR mags?
