Everybody loves the 180B. :D

Two firearms safety course instructors correct the technique of a student.

AR180B accuracy

I am looking at mounting a scope on my AR180B, but can't decide whether to mount a short-range scope (either bushnell acog or aimpoint), a medium power scope (3-9x, around there) or a high-power scope (6-12x, 8-25x, etc.) so I was wondering what you guys would reccomend? I hear that the Ar180B is capable of 1.5" groupings @ 100yrds., so which power scope would you reccomend? I am probably not going to be shooting more than 250yrds, depending on the accuracy I get, but would like to use the rifle for some varminting and some target shooting, and possibly a deer rifle for this season (shots no farther than 150yrds. on deer). I also can't decide whether to go with a CQB setup (vertical grip, reddot, surefire, etc.) or long-range setup with a bipod. Opinions? :runaway:

Thanks.

thats from my first trip to the range with my ar-180b. all groupings are with iron sights only. (dident have the scope at that time)

thats from 35yrds with remington UMC 45grain hollow points.
U may notice the straight vertical line as i adjusted the front sights elevation. pretty damn tight grouping for my first time shooting her. [8P]

this one is from 35yrds too but using 55grain winchester FMJ rounds.
a few odd shots that went way off but for the most part shes a tack driver.

heres another trip using the same 45grain remington UMC hollow points.

Im dying to get her out to the range now that i got that sweet leupold 3-9x40 scope mounted.
maybe in a few week ill get the time.... hopefully.... [>]:)]

I can't comment on how accurately that portrays the 180b however it's the only targets I've even seen posted.

With Eotech holosight I can keep them inside a 2" group at ~100 yards.

What type of optics you want depends what type of shooting you are planning to do. Close in fast shooting, holosite. Medium range (100-200) get a 3X. Longer ranges, get a bigger scope.

If i'm understanding correctly , those targets are 35 yards . My 14" 870 with a Briley flush fit full choke will do the same with 3 inch mag 000 buck .

Mayb he was 'BlazinChronic' at the time:D As far as range goes, I would like to shoot varmints as far as accuracy lets me, so I am guessing for a target the size of a crow about 200yrds., or is it pushing it? Would it be a good idea to mount my $hitty tasco rimfire scope just to see what the groupings are like at around 100yrds.+ or would I have to readjust after each round? If yours is grouping 2" @ 100yrds, then it should group around 4" @ 200? I'm guessing a 3-9x or something around there should be suitable then?

Thanks.

Your rifle looks nice. What kind of scope and mount do you have? I'm thinking of a red-dot sight, but not entirely sure yet:confused: .

The mount's a wolverine, and the scope's just a cheap Bushnell sport. It'll get 1.5 MOA at 100 yards, though. Good enough for zombies, anyways.

You know what? i'm in the same boat as you, i can't make up my mind about anything with my 180B. But i did see an entry level scope at marstar. 3x9x30, with a range esitimating battery powered red dot. Now i'm not sure what they mean by that, but i'm thinking the dot get's smaller in the scope the farther you move your sight down range. "i'm guessing" but it only makes sense, because you wouldn't want a fat ass dot at:rolleyes: 100yds.

Someone correct me if i'm wrong because i'm a bit shakey:confused: when it comes to optics.

i would try that storm works mount first, side folding stock next, and the most expensive part "it seems" that kick as for-arm for the 180b, but keep in mind i don't have any of these accessories, i'm just going on what some peeps tell me.

As far as accuracy, i'm betting i'll get 1" groups in the prone at 100yds with the irons......, but will have to see. "No timmies:eek: before the range......boy does caffeen through you off"
