ASC LAR 10/30 round pistol mags

It happens to the best of us. No way am I sending an EMT to someone who doesn't give me at least a phone number. If this was the EE and not a website, people would be saying your crazy. With all the sponsors that sell 10 round mags you would think this would have popped up at some point. The pic shows the mag but not a great view of what is stamped/written on it. I'm calling shenanigans until a reputable source verifies these mags.

From the site.

Thanks for the pics. I did go check the website after I posted and saw those. I also did a Whois? Look up of the domain name. It is registered to an advertising company in Vancouver, so no info linking to any business owner or individual. They claim to be a distributor for ASC, how did a virtually unknown secure that when others have been selling ASC for years and don't have access to these? Too many questions for this savvy consumer.

Agreed. While everyone has to start somewhere, I'd at least like a little info.

until the RCMP ok these mod to the LAR mag id save your pennys, you think this is the first time someone has tried to bring In a 30rd body pinned to 10 with pistol mag marked on it....
Come on people get real!
last I talked to the guys at the Lab the only approved mags are whats now know as ASC lar15 mags, the the company that it was before, Cproducts mag and the CAA mag.
Anything else is either In the lab for testing or prohib, with over 20 so called "pistol mags" sent in for testing I think the wait is going to be long.

I would heed Simons advice on this 10/30 rd magazine issue, from experience other magazine that had been submitted had not been approved.

Looks to me like the mag body is indented at the factory, not "pinned". Same as the ProMag and MecGar pistol mags that come in without issue. Which specifically complies with the legislative requirement for mag capacity limitation.

The "lab" as far as I know looks at those which are "modified" by pinning, rivet, extended follower or the like after being made as a normal high cap mag to ensure it is adequately modified.

These were undoubtedly made for the US 10rd states (California, etc) originally.

Further, they are ASC and they are Lar15, sooooo.......

Got a phone call back from PPP and spoke to john. I asked him about why these are ok, and other 10/30 mags were not. In short, he stated that these are not pinned mags, rather that the bodies of the mags are designed as such not to allow the follower to load more than 10 rounds and that they are designed from the ground up as pistol mags. He also seemed quite the know about the gun laws and had been in the game for some time. He is booked for the Easter gun show in Calgary this year as well.

He also stated that he is now the authorized Canadian dealer for ASC. Came across as straight up and knowledgable on the phone.

Ok kewl let me know how that works out. I want 3 mags but i dont really want to be a $150 guinea pig lol

From what I read these are not straight USGI but stainless steel then blackened. Also, look at our Cdn $ right now, way low and it appears tax must be included as there's no additional tax added, according to the site.

I know from working with aluminum for years that trying to crimp a body that thin would not work, probably why it's stainless. Hell, Trigger sells riveted aluminum USGI retail at $30 + tax. *LOL*

Just looked at ASC website, stainless mag $16. Then add crimping, laser engraving, shipping, exchange, brokerage, taxes at border, duty......... I import performance car parts, I know what it costs! Not to mention bringing you something you want.

I've ordered some, got email confirmation from him and sent EMT. Says they'll ship out Monday. I'll see what I get.

Realistically until the " legality " of these mags is determined it could go the way the PCV mags did and threads like this will be locked and squashed until official confirmation is given that they are legal as far as the RCMP is concerned.
