So I started a transfer of an ar-15 a couple weeks ago and just received an email asking for me to provide detailed pictures of the lower receiver before they will complete the transfer?

They say it's a new procedure due to concerns about "the ease of converting certain ar-15's to fully automatic"

Update:

UPDATE:
Transfer was approved after a pictures were sent and a considerable delay

Refer them to the manufacturer's web site: the oem specs will clearly show it's good to go. From what I have been reading there is only one manufacturer to date that was out of spec on an older model lower. They are grasping at straws..... How can they measure to ensure the inner wall thickness from an email pic? It's like calling the dealership and have a mechanic diagnose an engine noise over the phone.

They are so full of ####!

It's a LMT defender 2000 lower. They make it seem from the letter they sent me that I'm actually going to have to strip the lower receiver down and remove the trigger group. Take pictures with a measuring tape and email them the pictures back.... this seems completely unreasonable

Yet questar sells the exact same ones? Everytime questar makes a sale do they have to strip the lower receiver down and take pictures?

I hate what these the Liberals are doing.

Have you tried asking them what part of the Firearms act gives them the right to act for pictures of receivers before allowing a transfer?

Hmmm I wonder if any have actually been identified as prohib.

If I had a wide shelf one and never transferred it, is it "under the radar" so to speak?

First they must make up an issue!!!!! Then they must react to it....this is just the start of it.

Yes, there are overtones of Hegelian Dialect. However, it's also a perfect example of an unelected body, without restraint or oversight, creating law while using fear to rationalize it. Meanwhile, the elected body turns a blind eye. There are case studies from the last century that prove this undemocratic method of lawmaking is self-perpetuating and hazardous.

Hmm, I'm quite surprised that the RCMP is taking advantage of a firearms-unfriendly government in Ottawa to start playing some reindeer games with firearms owners...

We have at least two and a half more years of this...get used to it kids. It's only going to get worse and we all can provide some educated guesses what things are on the RCMP's wish list.

So the RCMP is asking gun owners to possibly self-incriminate themselves of possession of a prohibited device.

What's the legal ramifications of this?
