I can't believe all the crap you guys have been dreaming up for what "AR" stands for.

Changing the name from " Assault " to " Tactical " is like the feminists demanding it to " Womyn " instead of "woman " to seperate the man from the feminine side of things. It is what it is, dont give people an excuse to beat the subject to death and kick up a fuss.

I dont care if its a assault rifle or tactical rifle of whatever, it still represents a fun day at the range for the common man who is into a different style of shooting.

Next thing you know we will get some right wing activist screaming " From my cold dead hands " on here next.

I wonder if some guys think up these threads just to see if they can kick over a few stones and rattle the cage a bit to get posts.
 
Well, obviously everone who took offence to my post missed the "sorry if I offend anyone" to start it all off.

My intentions weren't to s**t on anyones AR parade, or to "s**t on the rug of our house" .

Personally, I like the AR. I think its a great gun. I think its the best "black gun" out there, and I wish more people understood that its not some evil death machine from the movies.

But my point is to remember this; its a public forum. Everything we say here can, and most likely will be misinterpreted, misquoted, misused, and turned against us.
This title won't help our cause when some anti-gun hippie douchebag is able to quote CGN to the media as labelling our own AR thread with the header "assault rifles". Just something to ponder for when that does happen...

But at least on the up-side we can now all use "peace and hippy f**k love sticks" in our daily vocabularies!!

You should keep in mind that there are posters on this board who own legally aquired real assault rifles. I am not talking the common restricted types, but the good stuff that the dictators classified as prohibited and issued 12 type licences for them. So yes there are real assault rifles here.

Being silent and appeasing the gun grabbing zealots is counter productive.

Apologizing in advance is not an excuse for posting comments or statements that you know will attract negative attention. Doing so is just a further example of you demonstrating complete ignorance.

You dont need to remind people on a Gun forum that the Black Rifle or " Assault Rifle " is not an evil death machine. We clearly made the distinct connection or should I say lack there of a long time ago.

If you dont want any misinterprutation, misquotes or negative attention brought to the attention of the media or varies goups/organizations than wise up and dont start a thread like this.

You brought this on yourself and what damage is done here you are directly responsible for.

Assulting Assult Rifles

Seems to me the accepted definition of assult rifle is one that has the means of firing fully automatic or in multiple burst mode and may also have semi automatic capability too.Therefore if one has one of the types of firearms and of course its in the prohibited class then it meets the definition of a true assult rifle and is also included in the related forum as listed,correct?--Thanks--Dieseldog!!:ar15:

Ignorance defined: misinterprutation (misinterpretation),varies (various), dont (don't), than (then), capitalizing non-proprietary names or colloquial terms, goups (groups) and slagging on a new-comer with a question. I like the tag on black and green rifles; however I might not tell my mother-in-law (who frowned the first time she seen I carry a knife) that I bought one. I might use the words semi-auto, full auto, tactical rifle, or military. To my ears any rifle used in an initial attack would be the assault rifle, even though it could well be a single shot .22. (Should rifles that successfully repelled a Taliban attack be called "defence rifles"?) It's not a term I would propagate but I like the way it's used here. However I don't think we have to revert to childishness as soon as a fellow gun advocate brings a topic to the table. We are on the same team aren't we?

I thought it was common knowledge amongst GunNutz that Hitler himself coined the term "assault rifle" during WWII when he decided to have the MP44 or "MachinePistole 44" redesignated Stg44 or "Sturmgewehr 44". "Sturmgewehr" meaning roughly "storm (assault) rifle".

Can a semi only version of a select fire rifle really be called an assault rifle? Who cares? :D
 
Assault rifles are defined by those who wish to control them.
An AR platform looks scary! It should be restricted!!!
Take a Ruger Mini-14 Ranch rifle. It looks like grandpa's old huntin' rifle. With a few modifications it can look "black"

Its a semi-auto 5.56mm/.223 rem. that can be easily converted to full auto. BUT IT IS NON-RESTRICTED

An AR-15 shoots the same damn bullet but for some reason is more dangerous and is restricted.

Personally I can cause more mayhem with my TRG22 (bolt action .308) than I could ever with a M4 full auto or AK-47. 4 RCMP officers lost their lives in Mayerthorpe at the hands of a guy with a non-restricted hunting rifle. 30-06 I believe. (God rest their souls) I'm not into killing people, I'm just saying people are dangerous not the guns. Although I do own a pretty racist Ruger 10-22;)

If these libtards want to save lives, ban cigarettes and alcohol which cause more deaths then civilian owned guns ever have.

Here is a pic of a mini-14 non-restricted for those who do not yet understand the depth of our governments ignorance. All gun are a "point and click interface" one isn't more dangerous than the other.
