I applied for my ATC in early May. I finally got the confirmation from the CFO that it is approved
Here are some of the things that slowed down the process.
1) I sent in the application without a shooting proficiency qualification. I had done this in the past and had no problems but things have changed. My bad.
2) So I qualify with the Pistol Chair at my range, I get him to fill in his part of the questionnaire and sign it. Fax it in to CFO.
3) The CFO office then tells me that the qualification confirmation has to be on a separate range letterhead even though there is an area for this on the CFO questionnaire. This seems like BS on the CFO's part.
4) I get the Pistol Chair to do up a qualification letter on the ranges letterhead.
5) The CFO tells me that the qualification letter has to be dated.
6) I call the Pistol Chair (who has done this all for free and has been very patient) and ask him to edit the letter which he does.
7) I emailed the letter to the CFO and today they confirmed that my ATC was approved - 6 1/2 months later!!!!!!
Much of the delays at the beginning were my fault including not calling them and assuming everything was OK because they'd always approved my ATC's so quickly in the past.
So you BC guys applying for ATC's - do the qualification and get it on your clubs letterhead and date it. And call them often to check on the status of the application and approval.
Apply early as there may be delays.
Above all, don't take no for answer if you honestly qualify for a wildnerness ATC.
I included a bunch of my handguns on this application - 9mm. .38 Special, .357 Magnum and .454 Casull. It'll be interesting to see if all of them have been approved.
