A bit surprised because just a short while ago my Tavor was on the ATF list and allowed to take into the US. All of a sudden there was a change in the decision. Any one ever experienced this.

Up to date feed back would appreciated.

can you not call the ATF and speak to someone to find out?

Don't press your luck. You could end up crossing the border and loosing the gun and enjoying free room and board in jail.
Taking guns from here to there that are suspect to them invites issues you don't want to be part of or the cost of your freedom
with lawyer fees.

Tavors didn't become available in the US until IWI started manufacturing them in the US.
So if they didn't allow them to be imported from Israel...They defiantly won't let you bring your Israeli made one into the country

IWI imports them from Israel, then swaps parts into them to make them 922r compliant. Not made in the US, modified in the US.

Seen here...

How old is your Tavor? Meaning...is it one of the first ones to come here? Those might not be 922r compliant. 'Bout the only thing I can think of that can make it not eligible for temporary import

Just about to dig through this thread. I'm currently stateside with my Tavor and my US paperwork.

... 30 seconds later ...

Okay OP, can you clarify what you mean by disallowed?

Did you already have a Form 6NIA with your Tavor on it?

Did the ATF contact you to revoke or modify your Form 6NIA?

Simple Sum Up:

As far as I understand it the ATF lists 3 models of Tavors out there.

1. The IWI US "SAR-21"

2. The Israeli Military "TAR-21" which is generally on the ATF's "machinegun list"

3. The Civilian "TAVOR-21" model you find in Canada. Should be stamped right on the side of your gun.

When I applied for my Form 6 earlier this year, I had to call into the ATF, then email back and forth a bit with them. They wanted to make sure that my rifle was a semi-auto only setup, and not an NFA controlled item. I told them a bit about my rifle, how long I'd had it, what I'd done to it, then I emailed them external photos and they issued me the temporary import permit.

That + a match invitation has served me well when crossing the border. I literally made the crossing Monday afternoon. Standard procedure: declare everything, open everything up for the border officer, let him compare the serial numbers on paperwork to serials on steel, have a short "That's a damn cool gun" conversation, and I was on my way.

Curious to hear more about who's telling you your rifle has been "disallowed." Also keep in mind that my experience only applies to temporary import. If you're moving to the United States that would be a whole different barrel-kettle of fish-monkeys.

My friend was not allowed to bring his Springfield Armory M1 Garand in on his form 6NIA however he was given a contact number he could call for more info.
I know of others with the same rifle on their form 6NIA.

A great deal depends on where and when you cross the border. Not all U.S. border types know about firearms or the U.S. laws. Then you get to deal with the ATF empire. They wrote the book on civil servants making law by regulation.

Ok I had my Tavor on my form 6 but I wanted to put some more guns on it. So I relisted what I had including the Tavor and put a couple of additional pieces. To my surprise when I received the form. they had the Tavor scratched and a letter stating that title 18 US code sec 922(o) prohibits the possession or transfer of a machinegun.

I was socked to see this 180 degree turn from my other form 6 approval. I'll be calling the ATF tomorrow and ask for clarification because as far as I know my Tavor is not a machine gun.
