I've got an Argos HMR 2-12x42mm on a Tikka T3X in 7mm Rem Mag, it's a really nice scope in that $200-$500 range where you would find Vortex Diamondback and low-end Vipers, Leupold VX-Freedoms, Bushnell Prime/Engage/Nitro, and some of the Fullfield IV and Signature Burris scopes. I would say it competes well in the category - nice capped turrets, side parallax adjustment, tracks very well, good clarity, a bit tight in the eye box, a bit heavy, but my biggest complaint is that the reticle uses dots for holdover markers which are far less precise than stadia marks and overall the reticle seems a bit... chunky. The illuminated version uses stadia marks instead of dots which makes it look less cluttered, but for whatever reason the reticle is varied between illuminated and non-illuminated versions. For hunting I much prefer the Vortex Dead-Hold BDC to Athlon's version thereof from a non-illuminated perspective.
