+++++ ATHLON rifle scopes +++++

My Ares ETR lost zero. What I found was the reticle would shift when you adjusted the magnification ring. On my BTR the eye piece came loose and you could screw it all the way out. The warranty took approx a month, scope was replaced, and this was during covid. This doesn’t deter me from buying Athlon, I’ll most likely buy another ETR. I thought the glass in the BTR was really milky with poor eye relief, everything else was great though.

Good to know you had a fast turn around. I have an Ares etr 3-18 on order with Wolverine.

All scopes can fail but sometimes warranty is a major issue in Canada.

I've got an Argos HMR 2-12x42mm on a Tikka T3X in 7mm Rem Mag, it's a really nice scope in that $200-$500 range where you would find Vortex Diamondback and low-end Vipers, Leupold VX-Freedoms, Bushnell Prime/Engage/Nitro, and some of the Fullfield IV and Signature Burris scopes. I would say it competes well in the category - nice capped turrets, side parallax adjustment, tracks very well, good clarity, a bit tight in the eye box, a bit heavy, but my biggest complaint is that the reticle uses dots for holdover markers which are far less precise than stadia marks and overall the reticle seems a bit... chunky. The illuminated version uses stadia marks instead of dots which makes it look less cluttered, but for whatever reason the reticle is varied between illuminated and non-illuminated versions. For hunting I much prefer the Vortex Dead-Hold BDC to Athlon's version thereof from a non-illuminated perspective.

The new Athlon helos g2 family is fantastic and a sig jump in all metrics. problem has been keeping them instock

But for LR rimfire, you need to consider the 6-24X56 version with 34mm tube.

Athlon Ares ETR & Athlon Midas Tac both are great
the reticle is what made me change .

The Midas Tac is as basic as it gets and
still is great glass.

Delta Javelin & Athlon Ares are my best scopes for BR.

On the 4-20 model, how good is the view at 20x? My BTR gen 2 4.5-27, I usually run it at 20x on the high end.

If your scope came out in this year, maybe your lenses aren't too far away from the Helos (Athlon doesn't upgrade all product layers at the same time). But if a few years old, you will notice the improvement in the Helos.

In any variable, especially in this price range, you will notice a slight dulling of image at max mag. the scope I would recommend is the Helos 34mm 6-24X56.

If you want a significant improvement in what you see, this is where you want to go... before stepping up to the ED options from Athlon and Delta

Better than 4-12, but like more zoom. Rifle is 90-10, target- hunting. Maybe I will upgrade mine at some point. No hurry yet.
I also have the biggest atv rifle case I could find. 50mm is the max to fit in it. I had to use a heat gun to make that work.

Helos BTR G2 2-12.

Could be an option

I run this optic on a Ruger Ranch and regularly shoot from 25yds to 500yds and it's one of my favourite scopes I own in any price range. Friendly eye-box, easy to use reticle and decent low-light gathering. Reticle is great for big game or steel at moderate ranges and the scope itself is compact and relatively lightweight.
This scope holds a unique place in the market as a smallish, dialable FFP that has a set of features that are geared towards practical field shooting/hunting.
Price is pretty decent for what you're getting as well!

I purchased the Helos BTR Gen2 4-20 x 50 for my 223 Rem. from Jerry this spring. I very much like what I see but unfortunately at this time still haven't had a chance to mount it on my rifle. Hopefully this fall.
