I'd go with the ATR Leonidas. Or if that's too obscure, the ATR Spartan.

B

Meh...

Why not "the Persephone" then? You know, the Greek goddess of reviving crops who was condemned to the underworld after eating pomegranate seeds.

People don't want guns named after hungry old Greek broads

They want names like 'Mustang' and 'Cheetah'--vicious animal names. ;)

(blantant Simpsons rip-off)

It is a good name, the problem is someone else is using it.
The photo I used is of a Nesika, just to illustrate what we intend to build to look similar to, there will be some unique differences however.
Both in design and material used.

Hmm... So the same but different. Cool. There is a rumor that the so called action is going to be an assembly of parts made by other vendors. Not in house by ATR. It just a rumor I heard. I hope it isn't true.

It has been mentioned about new equipment being acquired for this project.

Also to bring up a rumour like that suggests you have an agenda.

+1

There should be no rumor at all, or is that rumor something you are starting in your own mind?

Rick has been up front about the picture right from the beginning and has explained exactly what his intentions are for a Canadian produced kick ass action, even given us an approximate price so exactly what more is it you would like him to justify to you?

No agenda, Pictures of the new equipment would be cool though.

Yup and then you will say I took the photo off site at someone elses shop.
Why not come by and see for yourself ???

And to set the record straight for once and for all.
We ARE definately outsourcing some of the parts, just like Remington, Nesika, MRC, GA Precision, PGW, Surgeon, etc etc does.
We are working very closely with good friend, Glenn Harrison of Phoenix Machine, who was the founder of Nesika. The actions as described previously will use as many Remington aftermarket parts as possible, trigger groups, firing pins, cross pins, and bottom metal screws, as I see no reason to reinvent the wheel and to possibly handicap someone at a later date should I die or go to Edmonton.
There are distinct differences in what I have selected as features I want to see in an action, these were described earlier in this thread.

Not knowing how long it will take to get full production in house, the first batch of actions will be made by Phoenix as Glenn already has his machines up and running and is already a master at using them.
The time consumed to get the CNC machines in place has greatly exceeded what the plan called for, due to factors beyond our control.

Once I am 100% positive that locally out sourced heat treating and EDM work is perfect and know that what we produce is 100% worthy of the ATRS name, the action body outsourcing/importing will cease.

There are 2 reasons I spent huge $$ to get into action making, 1 is that I am not totally happy with what is being produced by others, but more importantly am sick and tired of the importation B.S. involved with serial numbered parts like actions. The sooner I can stop importing stuff the better in my mind.
I will still get Glen Seekins to make up the recoil lugs, and scope rails as he can make them much less expensively than I can for the numbers involved.
Small parts are easy to import by mail.

Shop hours are 0900 to 1800 Monday Wednesday and Friday, come on by and see what we do.

So the rumors are right! I thought otherwise. Whole first batch is being out sourced nothing in house but the added price. Then maybe (if ever thing works out) then make them in house. So have you purchased a machining center? What make and what control. What spindle, tool changer? Who is your tool supplier? I would like to see your shop again.
But I live in BC. But I don't see the big deal of showing off your new machine equipment. Oh you did show someone else's action. OK I get you. Hey, I wish you the best of luck. Have you sold any yet?

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, did we all miss something here. How can there be a rumor if this is what Rick said from the beginning?:confused::confused:

I am smelling a troll as well. Rick your customer base and support here, who have nothing but positive feelings for the way you have treated us far out weighs the negativity this guy is clearly trying to antagonise you with. Pay no attention to this guy.

What is your problem? Trying to stir up ####?

As I mentioned with some Aholes no proof is enough, so come and see for yourself.
Yes I have several orders and all who have placed them know EXACTLY what the story is.

I just find it interesting how you are doing what anyone can do. Order up a bunch of parts. Yes to your spec's, and put it all together. I have thought about doing that as well. the problem is that you have always implyed that the action is going to be made by ATR in house and that you have the equipment. I just wish you where more up front. As well as on how little you know about CNC machining from the start. Again I hope it works for you. I wish no ill will. I have spend a lot of time with CNC machining, have owned machining centers and still have a 4 axis machine. I have total respect for how long and how hard it is to setup a production of an item. Just be up front.

Still would like to see and hear about your equipment. Its important because it let us who know if you are capable of what you plan to do. As well as if you can do some work for me and others.

I have a custom made frequency drive 4 axis machine made by CNC automation in USA. It has a mach 3 PC controller. I'm certified Bobcam programer. No proof though of any of this.
