ATRS Modern hunter specs, pics and range reports

The Xcr mag is about as short as one would reasonably want. Extends about .5" below the magwell, providing just enough to manipulate if need be. Anything less would be silly.

Excuse my question if it has been answered, but are the modern hunters working with both Gen 2 and Gen 3 5/20 round magazines?

Also Rick can verify this but I believe the xcr 5/10 also have issues with feeding, caused from the crimp?

The 5/10 round XCR metal mags made by ASC have crimps in the mag body to limit the capacity to 5 rounds. We have found that IF the mag is loaded to the full 5 round capacity they do not feed as reliably as they do when only loaded to 4 rounds.
With full 5 round capacity the FTF rate is about 40% when loaded to 4 rounds the FTF rate is zero.
The 10 round XCR Pistol mags have a zero FTF rate in our experience.

Gen 2 P Mags work well, Gen 3s very poorly to not at all.

As previously mentioned we ARE in the midst of making a polymer mag similar to the Pmag but better material and more importantly that actually works flawlessly in both our MH as well as the XCR-M rifles. These mags should also work well in the DPMS style AR10s
They are not quite as long as a 20 round body but longer than the XCR 10 round mags for better manipulation and will be offered in 10 round and 5 round capacities to cover all situations.
The options for colors are black, black, black or black.
Molds are in the works so hopefully we will have this mag issue cured in the next month or 2.

Are you going to bother to figure out a fix for the imi mags?

We HAVE the fix. We are making our own mags that actually fit and work as they should.
Some guys have reported that by putting some tape on the body of the IMI mags it takes up the tolerance that is missing and helps make them function. THIS in my mind is a band aid fix, not how to correct the problem properly.

That's the best solution in my books too. I've seen and held the mock-up. It will be just what everyone is wanting/looking for the M.H..

Not entirely true, but sure. I for one am not interested in those mags at all, so I hope others get them and sell me thier G2 Pmags and XCR pistol mags.

I would however be all over these ATRS mags if they were also pistol mags made for the xcr-m pistol.

A bunch of companies make .50 beo and pistol mags for platforms that they do not make in house but do exist, why can't ATRS?

^ did you miss the part where they are making them in a ten round version?

Apparently he has missed something.

We ARE making both 5 AND 10 round mags. They ALL will be marked XCR-M and the 10 rounders are being made for the XCR-M PISTOL.

The reason we do not make a 50 Beowulf mag is that "50 Beowulf" is a registered trademark for a patented and proprietary cartridge owned by Alexander Arms and we do not need to be involved in an international legal action for producing parts that we are not licensed to by Alexander Arms.
I explored this with them and they were very firm, go ahead but see you in court.
How others are getting away with it, I know not. maybe AA is simply waiting for the companies that are making unauthorized copies or using "50 Beowulf" without permission to be worth the legal expense of taking action against?
Onetwentyish, I hope that clarifies our position.

Apparently I have. when ATRS initially started designing this mag there was no talk about a 10 round mag in fact it sounded like it was kind of talked down.

As such, I have popped in and out of the conversation but haven't really read it all as I do not yet own a modern hunter, but I will be picking mine up tomorrow afternoon from Stormchaser. :)

I was semi sorta familiar about the case on the 50 Beowulf mags, but I was unsure and unaware previously that you were intending to make your new mags for the XCR-M pistol. That is excellent news I can't wait to buy some now!

(Still looking for G2 pmags tho)

Rick the new mags sound intriguing. I already have an abundance of gen2 pmags but had to paint to match my rifle, no big deal. I seen a prototype of your new mag when I was in the shop and it was in the white. I seen you were very adamant about the mags being offered in black, black and black. If your proto mag was in the white would it be possible to produce the dyable mags like magpul is doing? To suit all the modern hunter buyers that purchased cerakoted rifles other then black. Just a question as the paint works fine for me but may boost sales if mags could be dyed a variable of colours.
