ATRS Modern hunter specs, pics and range reports

No issues with mine, but I am pretty sure that ATRS would really appreciate a call from you so that they can solve the issue.

Obviously, however I want some more time than 50 rounds with it to diagnose what is the exact issue, or when it happens so I can provide Rick with more info. I also do not have time to play with it until after harvest, nor do I have time to talk to Rick about the issue unfortunately. :(

Well, when you have time PLEASE call us. This is not normal and needs to be dealt with.

What ?!
I haven't seen anything that remotely approaches that.

I really, really do. The fact is, most 7-800 dollar rifles will shoot <MOA consistently off the shelf. I'm not attacking ATRS by any means, I've had great dealings with them so far so no need for the white knights to show up and attack me. The problem is that I've been wanting a NR AR type rifle to shoot medium-long range (out to 1000m or so) with for years now. At first glance, the MH was it. It came from a company known for building really, really accurate rifles and was able to use tons of AR parts.

The bottom line is that I still want a semi like the MH that I can take out in the woods and stretch its legs a little, but a rifle that seems to struggle to shoot <MOA isn't going to cut it, especially at current prices. And before someone points out the sub half minute group posted above, I have news for you. If your gun consistently prints MOA+ groups, but every once in a while when the stars align, your zodiac symbol is in the sky, and mercury is in retrograde, and your rifle shoots a quarter minute group, it still isn't a quarter minute gun. Some of you may say I'm not being realistic, but I don't think so. There's nothing inherent to the design stopping this rifle from being accurate, a purpose built AR can easily be made to fit all my criteria but the non-restricted part (I'd already own one if it weren't for the fact that I only have access to a ~300 yard range), so that's not the problem. Maybe with the right hand load this rifle will really start to shine. I'm starting to see some promise, and if I end up deciding to plop down my cash for a 6.5 model, you bet I'll be spending a lot of time doing load development for it.

The jury is still out for me. I appreciate all the hard work ATRS has put into the rifle and giving us guys in Canada more options, but I'll have to keep monitoring this thread and wait and see before I'll be able to decide if the MH will suit my needs or not.

Quarter minute gun???

You can win most competitions with a 1/4 minute bolt rifle if you are good enough to work such a rifle. Semis in a 30 cal size are a whole different cat.

If that's directed at me, I didn't mean to imply that I expect the MH to be a 1/4 minute gun, that'd be pretty unrealistic. I do expect it to consistently shoot sub MOA though, and the handful of sub minute groups posted here amongst all the >MOA groups don't convince me that this rifle is capable of that level of accuracy yet.

uhhh...yeah....1/4 moa? Come on.

I don't own one of these rifles (at least not yet) so I have no real skin in the game but is there any manufacturer making a regular production semi, AR pattern or otherwise, that will guarantee or even regularly achieve 1/4 moa? I think some people have some pretty unrealistic expectations of these rifles.

No way. You're hard pressed to find bolt guns with that kind of guarantee, and none of them are production guns.

My frame of reference for comparison are rifles like the GAP-10, OBR, KAC SR-25 etc. The shooting .5 minute groups with the GA Precision and the Larue is fairly common, though obviously neither comes with that type of guarantee. All of these rifles can be had for prices in a similar ballpark to the MH. The GA Precision rifle starts under $3k USD

I have had only 1x range trip, ....which proved to be "up to and beyond MY" expectations of the gun.
The fit and finish is top notch, accuracy is what I was hoping for..if not better.
I have also shot 2x other Modern Hunters both in .308, and again....very very impressed !

And non restricted...!!!

New Thread....?

Bring it on..

I think "we" the Modern Hunter owners "VS" all other AR10 owners... Armalite, DPMS, LMT, RRA, ....

Yes.....Modern Hunter vs The World....

Based on factory loads.
There has been some impressive groups posted by fellow owners.

Haters....here we come!

This type of post is just ridiculous....Haters ????? Some people really need to grow up....a measure of a rifles performance is unfortunately what size of groups it is capable of with premium factory ammo. There are many people on the fence waiting to purchase the MH but want to see decent, consistent sub MOA groups...is that so hard to understand?

At the beginning before the first run Rick stated the rifle is not as accurate as a bolt gun but it will be capable of .5 to .75 MOA accuracy....a lot of those so called impressive groups that you so speak of aren't anywhere close to that....+ 1.5 MOA groups don't instill a ton of conviction as to the capability to achieve .5 to .75 MOA accuracy.

I like the MH, I want to buy a MH, but I also will wait until I see it proven that on average it is capable of what was stated and that my friend is, .5 to .75 MOA accuracy.

So quit the Hater BS and enjoy your rifle....as for me, I'm still patiently waiting for more committed range reports...have a nice day! :)

Haters gonna hate, doubters gonna doubt. ATRS will go forward just fine. Makes me laugh, the comments coming from non-owners.

The white knighting in this thread is out of control. Nobody is hating, people are judging a rifle by the groups it produces. Like hawk-i, I like the rifle, I want one. I'm hoping it shows better accuracy potential. I get the impression you guys are trying to justify your purchases to yourselves and pitting your "owners club" against anyone who dares to ask to see a reasonable amount of accuracy. Here's the thing, you shouldn't care; and you damn sure shouldn't be taking it so personally.

Anyway, I'm done derailing this thread. I'll continue to monitor the range reports and try to decide if this is going to be an Xmas present to myself, or if I'll find something else to put my inbound gen ii razor on.
