ATRS Modern hunter specs, pics and range reports

Its good to see some nice groups been posted, wondering how much the gas block clearance is causing the flyers in other posts.

Typically putting pressure on a barrel will cause it to shoot in different POI, when the pressure is in the same place, ie. a gas block to handguard and is close to the same pressure on every shot you will see 2 distinct "groups" on paper form.

We have been experimenting with a minor modification to the cam pin that seems to eliminate true flyers as opposed to barrel deflection from pressure put on the gas block. Once we have concluded the experiment we will share our findings, but things are looking promising.

If its a non-issue there would not have been a clearance increase to .050" ...its nice to see ATRS addressing issues to improve the overall performance of the rifle.

The only issue is with the very light and flexible hand guards like the Fortis. Personally I am running the PRI CF hand guard and it just does NOT flex at all regardless of how heavily I load my bipod. The base free float hand guard also is rock solid, however we would like to offer the best rifle possible, so continue to try and improve.
It is hard as a manufacturer to foresee every scenario despite rigorous testing on our own, so have to rely somewhat on feedback from clients experiences in order to find things that need to be improved.

I'll post pictures of my MH tonight, my MV was shipped Monday hopefully it will arrive today or tomorrow I'll post pictures of both rifles together

I got my Really Right Stuff MLoc to Arca Swiss

For the record, I just acquired a modern hunter in a trade and am in love. I switched the CTR to a UBR and a small amount of filing is necessary for charging handle clearance. However it really improved the balance adding a little more weight to the back to counter the heavy barrel. Yes it's more weight total but I'll take balance over scale weight anyday. That and it doesn't rip out my beard hair!

Funny you say that, I had that exact problem as well haha, have a bald spot now :(

first up is elk and bear whichever one I run into first
it's going to be a long fun fall and winter this year I'm going to be hitting the bucket list pretty hard this season
Last year one of my uncles passed away from cancer
Now my other uncle is also dealing with cancer
My uncles are older then me by 18 and 17 year really make a guy think
What I mean is we do similar work and have lived a hard-working man's life and similar lifestyles
So I figured the hell with it I'm getting the MH and MV and try to hunt everything I've always wanted to but never had the time or money this will be a working hunting holiday for me

Getting pack for the Ultimate multi-species Alberta hunt this is going to be once in a lifetime hunt with periods interrupted with work Haahaa I leave at the end of the week driving the Swiss army Unimog and Rokons up to Grand Prairie this weekend
The nice thing about being older is you get better toys

Nice pics - not as good as getting a call saying mine is ready to be picked up but still enjoy seeing them - thanks!

Still tempted by the MH, but too heavy for me for a non-magnum hunting rifle. Might pickup a Tikka T3x in 308 if they're on sale next year for a LW hunting rifle with more power than my 243. If I wanted one gun for everything or a semiauto in a larger caliber for precision shooting I'd probably pull the trigger so to speak if I could do it under 9 lbs with LW optic for hunting or 10 with a precision scope.

Really hoping I shoot my MV as well as my tikka compact 243 and my 7mm rem mag. If I do, I'll definitely be clamouring for a upper in a legal big game caliber. Have gotten rid of a couple rifles and a pistol to make room for the MV. Since there is nothing left I'm willing to get rid of, I might as well admit I don't have time/space/funds for a MH anytime soon anyway.

But another upper for my MV, would be practically like saving money, right guys :). (Counting on you guys to back me up, even if my wife doesn't understand how that'd be saving money - ha ha!)
