ATRS Modern Sporter - Nov 30th : New video, Post 482

Great, thanks!

Also, WOW. So happy I jumped off the other wagon and onto this one!!

Scrapped the other offering. Gonna wait for this to be non restricted

Just to clarify here. We built it adhering to all non-restricted criteria with a well established lineage in our Modern Series of rifles. You're just waiting for the RCMP firearms lab to offer their opinion, of whether or not we've done what we said we did, in the form of a firearms reference table number. Which is absolutely fine, we'll get one in your hands sooner or later ;), I just want to be specific about what an FRT actually is.

Alright, no time for pretty pictures before the long weekend but I'll post the video to our facebook. The FIRST receiver has completely finished the machining operations and is ready for tumbling and bead blasting first thing next week!

Pictures and video are on our facebook: https://www.facebook.com/AlbertaTactical/

Have a great weekend everybody, see you all on Tuesday!

What are the differences between the Midern Hunter, Modern Varminter, and Modern Sporter?

Hunter is the 308 family, Varmint is the 223 family. Those two are the "Ferrari" of the non-restricted line up. They are non-restricted side chargers :) custom built, premium parts, fitted and tested in house, they do use some/more proprietary parts.
Sporter is a descendant of the varmint, it is sold as a upper lower, standard rear charging, you use your own parts and build yourself as you wish. Thats the quick and dirty

Modern hunter is a side charging non restricted Ar-10
Modern varminter is a side charging non restricted ar-15
Modern varminter sporter is a non restricted ar-15.

The modern hunter and varminter’s uppers mate a little different, there is a trunnion inside the lower that the upper slides onto.

It IS confusing for sure. They have the Modern Hunter which is for 308 sized and makes sense. The Modern Varmint came next which is for 223 and the like, but then they offered a plain Jane version of the MV, which was still a MV but had not options, cheaper milspec barrel, these I suspect were geared towards having some on the shelf ready to go yet still staying within what they had agreed to with their insurance carrier on selling only completed and tested rifles due to the large number of proprietary parts.
Now the Modern Sporter is again slightly different and much more along the line of standard AR15 and from what I have been told is they are selling fully stripped for the DIY crowd or can build to suit for those who prefer to have a tested ready shoot rifle. Once they are finished production of the uppers and lowers.

I guess they had to call it something but it does get confusing.

I already know what numbers your are. Lol

You were the literal real life version of the Futurama Fry "take my money" meme apparently at the time of anouncement. Haha

Before the announcement actually!

Me and a few others had 5 lowers and 10 uppers on pre-order for the competitions nr set.
Comparing the 2 in hand made for a very obvious decision.
Cancel the initial preorder and put the money with a company who has been around for a while, knows how to make a quality product, and will be around in the future to be able to buy additional uppers.

A huge thanks to the ATRS crew for bringing Canadians what we've actually been asking for!

Our goal is to have lowers shipping out mid-September. Uppers going out the door by the end of the year. We still have room in the first production run, for now.

I just cancelled my SLR pre-order. Is it still possible to get in on the initial run for the Sporter? I sent an email to the ATRS general email address on Friday but figured I'd ask here too just in case ;)
