We got a badass over here,,,lol...

That's the problem with the internet, try to back up a claim with experience and someone has to have an edgy come back. I never hated on anyone for wanting a forward assist, if they were available at the same time as the ss i would've ordered one myself, for aesthetic reasons, because based on my personal experience ive never needed it; if you have that is totally fine and i applaud you for doing what is right for your build, it's fine to disagree thats why we have options.

I regret to inform you, that we will not be hitting our target of shipping out before the end of the year. We've been swamped here the last couple of weeks which is why the updates got so scarce, when things are moving smoothly I have the time to make videos, take pictures, and engage on CGN and Facebook/Instagram.

We encountered an unanticipated complication when we assembled a rifle with the production version of the upper receiver. Some of the changes we implemented to increase parts compatibility gave us a minor surprise. It's a small delay to deal with it now, it would be a nightmare to deal with it if they were in your hands already.

We are hoping to have some units up to anodizing early in the new year.

Any projection for ship out date? Basically end of January at least from what it sounds like? Have to re-machine uppers?

I hope to have better information by the end of next week to answer your first two questions, but the last part about remachine uppers needed addressing right away.

We do NOT need to remake the uppers. Just that every upper already through the process, needs to go back in to have a small amount of additional material removed.

Sorry this is what I meant by re-machine. Small hiccup I guess. My lower is getting cold and lonely :p

YOU Sir are being all to modest with the bolded statement. With about half of your staff away dealing with deaths in the family and Rick being out of the country for a week or so I can only imagine the pandamonium the shop is experiencing. Good on you for keeping the info forthcoming. I would like to think that given the circumstances that only a select know about most of us are understanding of unforeseen events in life that can happen at very poorly timed times. I imagine 5 oclock can't come early enough for you guys!!
Keep up the fine work and have a great Holiday Season!!

Would you mind telling where that more material to remove is? Just very curious as to what area required more material to be removed for part compatibility than originally designed.

To increase the depth of the notch for the charging handle which was found in the prototype uppers to be insufficient, we had to move the relief area for the charging handle forward of the rear hook. This gives us the additional thickness as the back for the charge handle latch to have a deeper pocket. HOWEVER, when we put a raw upper together to test function, it was discovered that you couldn't pull the charging handle back far enough to manually engage the bolt catch properly, it would catch on the BCG, but not the bolt itself. Had they gone out, they would have held open on last round, but not allowed you to easily lock the action open. The tracks that the charge handle rides on needed to be extended back behind the insertion relief area allowing further rearward motion.

TLDR: Quality control of Op 3, found an Unintended Consequence from Op2. ATRS is fixing it. ;)

The communication you guys deliver to the customers is one of the reasons I can deal with ATRS in confidence. Many companies either won't give any reasons for delays ( it really isn't my business to be honest ) or they fabricate stories like materials aren't available.
Glad you caught these issues, and thanks for being up front about everything.
Hope all the staff can enjoy their holidays given the unfortunate circumstances.

It's not like they don't know what they're doing. They clearly enjoy the process of fabricating and ironing out all the kinks in this historic product to ensure it stands as a top quality product just like the rest they sell. Simple oversights during a new project are common and they have the skills to deal with them as they come along. Cannot wait for my second production run to come through kink-free.

Sounds like the charging handle side fins will have a very likely tendency to catch on the ledges that is now created by the insertion pocket, now that the fins have to travel through the insertion pocket (where there is essentially no channel to support the charging handle fins) then engage newly machined channels further back to achieve manual bolt catch activation and loading. Unlike the AR15 channel design where the fins still have about 1/8"-3/16" of channel to ride backwards before the fins start reaching the ledge of the insertion pocket when the BCG is held all the way back, the Sporter upper essentially has a void in the channel where the fins will be able to catch/get caught when the charging handle is cycled and released.

Unfortunately, I think this is going to be problematic............... :sok2
