Yea, a Tula would have the star & arrow on the barrel instead. But on the other hand, for earlier years, Tulas are apparently more common than Izhevsks. Tulas were only less common for years when production at the Tula factory was suspended (between 1941 and 1944 I believe).

Dakk, you should do a Mosin info thread similar to the write-up Curtton did for the SKS in "red rifles" forum...you seem to know pretty much all there is about them:cool:
 
Production at Tula was only suspended in 1941 when it was being moved out of the path of the German advance. 1942-44 Tulas seem to be less common than Ishevsks, but aren't rare.
