ATTN: All Alberta restricted firearms transfers please read.

I think if a private transfer is being initiated there should be a fee.

No taxes are being collected and the people selling are not doing it out of the kindness of their hearts, they must be making money.

If they are making money, that is a business.

Retail business need to charge tax which contributes to the cost of running the Firearms program.

Private sellers are getting this for free.

Business to private transfers should take priority unless private sellers are paying a fee.

Private sellers are getting the transfer service for free. Does this make sense? Am I wrong?

Quite wrong. If the government (representing the collectively poor judgement of all the hoi polloi in this country) wants to create a time-wasting transfer system to impede the exercise of my rights regarding my property, then they can pay for it.

You have to pay when you transfer a vehicle.

What is the difference?

Are you kidding?

Seriously.

We are already taxed to death in this country to fund waste beyond waste.

Too much red tape and too much taxation and too much absolute waste.

No, more taxes and fees does not make sense. Yes you are wrong.

What you suggest might be given fair consideration if the rest of the system was fair, which it is not.

Good point. We should not be paying tax upon tax upon tax or fee upon fee upon fee.

We are way over regulated with excessive red tape.

In some Provinces you even pay tax on used vehicles every time it is resold. Boats too.

Taxation is totally out of control.

Remember the 2030 Agenda.......you will own nothing and you will be happy.

Uh oh, I wonder how many emails will go to spam?

If you have ever dealt with the RCMP to complete a transfer before (when you purchase a restricted firearm from a person directly, not a company) you most likely would have given them (the govt) an email address.

When the govt approves your purchase/transfer. They will send you a copy of the gun registration in your name (make/model/calibre/serial number). This is your “approved transfer” document, and they will send it to you by email and regular mail.

Now, when buying a gun from an online store, you do not need to call in to complete the transfer. The store will send all the info to the govt, and then they will either approve or deny your purchase. If they approve the purchase, they will send you a copy of that ‘approved transfer’ document.

What IRG is asking for, is that when you get that ‘approved transfer’ email from the govt, to flip it to them so they can finalize your order.

Caveat: if you have never dealt directly with the RCMP to complete a transfer, they may not have your email on file - in which case you’d have to wait for the paper copy to arrive at your house by snail mail

I fail to see that omitting to send seller’s notification could speed things up.
Doesn’t their system have some feature like send emails to both parties at same time? They live in Stone Age?

They only take calls and faxes... it is 1994 all up in that #####.

Ohh, govern me harder, daddy.

I don’t always make money selling a gun. So if I lose, do I get a tax credit?

How about just stop this whole pointless system, save the government millions. Then they can pass on the saved expenditure to the taxpayer . (Totally not happening. Just a fever dream)

Log into the CFP website and check your information. If you don't have an email address on file then add it.

The systems is not going anywhere sadly. But private transfers should at least pay a nominal fee. This fee would provide more funding for the firearms programs which would ideally speed things up. Pay your fair share!

First off, it’s government…the only entity that still considers faxing as an efficient document transfer…Second, it’s two different documents…Sellers copy and buyers copy…so it would be two emails anyway…That said, simple automation would fix it, but that brings us back to point 1…it’s government.

Yes you are wrong…This is not a “service”..This is government mandated inefficiency and public safety theatre…and completely unnecessary.

you're obviously new, with zero feedback score, sorry if none of us feel the need for more fees from a BLOATED governement full of freeloaders,we pay enough useless fees everyday just to give money to freeloaders, our hobby puts millions in the economy as it is,we dont need to give these scumbags more.

No feedback score because I don't buy other people's crap.

Freeloaders are people that expect something for nothing, like private transfers.

government jobs enjoy all those FREEBIES you expect others to pay for,gun owners shouldn't have to pay for the most garbage government system out there, firearms system is antiquated, and we shouldn't pay a dime for it,now if they want to give an option of same day service for a fee, that's a different story, but the word is OPTION,not mandatory.
