ATT's what you need to know

Strange. When I bought my last restricted (3 weeks ago) I was told that my LTATT is a BLANKET authorization for any restricteds in Alberta. The CFO here sees no need (some common sense at last!!) to have a LTATT for each firearm or purchase.

BTW, to get an LTATT, it took about 10 minutes from when I ended the call to the CFO's office to when the LTATT showed up on the fax machine.

I can only assume since my ATT is good to 2013, that I have, as you call it a LTAAT.

Nope, my LTATT did not cover moving an item from my club range, or any where else for that matter; to my dwelling, since the purpose of movement was not to move the item for my approved use (i.e. target sh..ting).
 
Just got my LTATT here in AB (had one up until a year ago, moved out of province....got an LTATT there, then moved back here.

I called the CFO's office on Thursday, faxed in my range membership, and a copy of my PAL for good measure.

I'm sure they probably faxed it out 10 minutes later and our office lost it....or......more than likely it's sitting in the bottom of a file somewhere never to see the light of day again.

So the timeline.

Thursday right around noon, I fax in my stuff. No long forms or otherwise. Just a phone call and a fax.The CFO's office processes and prints and mails my LTATT before the day is out.
One day to go through the snail mail system (Friday)
Monday just before noon, my LTATT arrives at my house.

I LOVE LIVING IN ALBERTA !!!! Just put all the politically installed, useless delays aside, pull up your socks and git er done !!!!

Your ATT is a Long Term Authorization to Transport, hence LTATT, as against a Short Term (basically Single Trip) Authorization to Transport.

It covers transport to and from any CFO approved range in Alberta, any licenced gunsmith in Alberta, and transport to US border crossings provided you have the proper US paperwork to enter the US with your restricted.
 
Question:

Does an LTATT cover driving to someone's house in the same city and picking up your newly purchase handgun and bringing it home or do you need to apply for an STATT for that?
 
Club membership is required, as of 2 weeks ago anyway when i sent mine away they called back asking for another detail about which gun club i belonged to.

Melissa must be on holidays...called her office last week, on hold music for 30 minutes before I had to give up.

Called this morning 8:59am. On hold music for 34 minutes. Had to give up.

Called again at 10:40am. On hold music for 55 minutes. Still nothing.

"All our information officers are busy serving other customers..."
 
I'm in BC

I applied for my LTATT on monday "Doing it over the phone was news to me" plus i had to fax in my membership card , the CFO said probly a few days.

About the BC CFO process

I have a newbi question but here goes


I thought a short term ATT was the first to be issued and then you could apply for the LTATT at your leisure ?

Anyone ?

I am a newbie here in Alberta I have not been able to find an answer to this, hopefully I didn't just miss it my eyes hurt from reading 23 pages. I hope my RPAL with be here soon (feels like forever) as soon as it comes I will join a gun club. As for the LTATT I was told you need to join a non-profit gun club which this gun club says they will throw in so all is good. But can I have the LTATT also cover taking the pistol to my cabin at the lake as there is a range not far away
 
Newbie here for restr. Just called CFO after paying and waiting 3 weeks for SOMETHING in the mail. Scenario is; had long guns for 25+ yrs, just got restr. licence, paid for handgun (mail order) same dealer I always use( out of province) was told application for collector status in the mail March 5. (I collect WW2 iron). Question; JUST HOW MANY RIGHTS MUST I FORFEIT BY BEING A COLLECTOR IN THIS PROVINCE (Ont.)???
 
All you BC'ers applying for LTATT....what was your wait time like?

Applied Jan 10, called mid Feb for status update "Oh sorry, we dont seem to have your application on file, please re-fax it to us"

Not sure how that is possible since they sent me a letter Jan 30, requesting proof of club membership.

So anyways, I re-fax, as requested and here we are again 3 weeks later....

Oh and calling the CFO results in being put on hold for over 60 mins each time. What gives?
 
Just got my LTATT from Nova Scotian CFO, faxed it in tuesday (march 23rd), approved same day and sent out. recieved in mail today (march 26th). i was worried i wouldnt get it today so i could go to the range with my new glock this weekend, so i called and they said they could fax me a copy so i could have it for the weekend if it didnt come in Friday. overall turn around, a little less then 3 days.

I'm going through this right now. I joined a club (easier than arguing with CFC that you do NOT need to be a member to own restricted - someone there thinks you do) and the club sent in an ATT app for me. I just recieved a letter from the Ont. CFO saying they couldn't find any restricted firearms registered to me so would therefore not issue an ATT at this time. I have a restricted transfer pending and I will find out Monday when I call the CFO if I need to reapply for an ATT. (so many acronyms). Dumby... to answer your question 1. I believe it is as you suspect. Order it and it arrives by mail. If you want to take it anywhere else to shoot it you'll need the ATT. I also have a friend that's owned restricted for a long time and just joined the club with me and NOW needs an ATT.
 
Called the CFO today and was told all checks are done and although the att was not issued, it is hanging there waiting. Was told once I have a number re: the restricted transfer of ownership to call the cfo (they provided a personal extension number in the letter) and it will be issued. The att will be sent to my club secretary (not sure why, unless they need to see it) and then on to me. CGO says call to the club sec. and have them fax me a copy and I'm good to go until the original arrives in the mail. Or get a temp att issued to get the thing home. Easier for me to meet the seller at the club and have the LtAtt already to bring my new firearm home. CFO must see this all the time with newbie club members.
