August purchase

Except for the scratches you can see on the mag tube, the finish is actually better than i expected. Theres also that chip on the bottom of the buttstock. I paid $430 for it, which i think is pretty decent.
 
Picked up this nice little Berthier Carbine Mle Modifie M16 2eme type from P&S Militaria :)

So your the one who got that Berthier carbine. She was up there for quite awhile, I'm glad she went to a good home at last.

It might be difficult finding the six round clip that she would take though.
 
Now my turn to show off a new Fraulein.

I picked up this cyq P38 from Ellwood epps after I sold a rifle to a good buddy of mine as the price was too hard to resist. She is all matching, made November 1943. I can safely say my German hand gun collection is complete now and I can't wait until I can test her out at the range.

I check Jean's site weekly and this one teased me for what? Maybe 2 or 3 months before I had to have it - lol. There's an 1886/93 up there now I would buy if the condition were a little better. What can I say, I like pre-WW2 French rifles from an era when they fielded effective armies :)
 
So I went to my first gun show in Thunder Bay today, not expecting to run into any milsurps but I was pleasently surprised at the number of milsurps laying around. Something caught my eye on a lonely rack behind a number of sporting rifles. I looked at the rifle saying "Ahh yes, another VKT or Tikka M91" but a quick examination of the barrel made me almost faint after I looked at the price tag simply labeled "Russian/Finnish M91". Stunned at the deal, I happily and quietly purchased her and walked out after examining the other tables. The gent I bought her from never fired her and she is filled with cosmoline. I have my cleaning work ahead of me so I am looking forward to a lazy Saturday afternoon.

Now I'm not a Finnish collector by nature, more of a Mauser man, but tell me fellow Finnish collectors, how did I do this morning ? :D

Any idea what the "T" on the receiver means ? I think it is Austro-Hungarian in origin but that is only a guess.

Any idea what is the fair market value for these P models in Canada ?
 
Well I just got her apart now, she is simply filled to the top with cosmo. Receiver tang shows the action to be built off an 1894 Sestroryetsk. I also noticed the brass shims that the Finns put into the stock around the receiver, something that my previous Finnish Tikka 1940 did not have.

Let the cleaning begin :D.
 
A capital AZF, W or A in that location indicates austrian capture from the ww1 era. An R in the same area means a Budapest rework. I don't know of any country associated with a "T" as yours shows. I suppose it could mean anything, or maybe nothing as well! Maybe a former owner stamped it there?

I non-serrif t on the barrel stands for Taisteluvälinehallinto (Ordnance Department), but I've never seen one like yours in that location.
