auto bolt release

I did mine a few years ago with the help of YouTube also. It's much nicer modified. What would be even cooler would be a slide lock to hold the bolt open after the last shot is fired. I'm sure someone sells some expensive mod kits.

I was actually just googling that. Seems like it's a magazine thing and not a gun thing.

Next up , is installing a new extracter, whether it makes a diff , I'm not sure . But it seems to be of the opinion that it does. And you get to pick your action apart some more:)

A tip about extractor replacements, If it's anyone's first time doing this, get a large clear zip loc bag and dismantle extractor inside bag, little pieces have a habit of flying off into oblivion....

Hm my extractor seems to work fine. What does one consider a better extractor to do?

I was having a LOT of stovepipes using H3CR mags on my 10/22, I could not go 5 rounds without getting one, ever.

I changed out the extractor for a Volquartsen Custom Exact Edge Extractor and I haven't had a single stovepipe since. I can zip through 20 round loaded mags with zero problems

Now if I can figure out how to solve the problem with FTL when I put the extra 5 rounds in after the 20 rd stripper clip

on a related note.
i took 3 RIA 10/22's i picked up and i did the mod on them, 2 worked and 1 did not.
i found that the piece itself looks and feels rough to the touch and possibly a bit thicker then the original ruger ones.
i ended up having to sand down the mag release width a hairs width to get the part to work.
i guess they need to be able to run super easy for them to work.

just thought id pass that little nugget of info along in case someone sometime in the future runs into the same problem doing the mod.
