Awe crap...

So due to the fact there are some things going on, tonight was our gift exchange. And I must say, momma bear was SUPER excited to get her new coach gun!! She absolutely LOVED it, as I knew she would!!!

I better watch for safes going on sale at CT... :D

In other news, the rifle hasnt arrived yet....but I did get my M14.ca CASM mount today!!

Looks like it is quite well fabricated. Cant wait to test it out!!!

Also went to WSS today and had a good peak at the Vortex Strikeforce red dot optic. I think it will fit the bill nicely!!
 
So I was all happy and content to live my life with a Vortex Strikefire....then some jerk goes and says get an Aimpoint.....So guess I am gonna get the cool kid toy...Thanks DaveMachine...jerk

Stripped it and wiped down some of the oil...dripping with the crap.

Barrel index looks good to me, FH sings nicely when the bolt is slammed.

Don't see anything wrong with it at all. So far, very pleased with the purchase. Mags fit really tight in the mag well...one I actually quite hard to lock in...I assume it will fit better with some wear.

Its stamped Dominion Arms Socom 18. Forgive the nooblet, but whats the distinction between M305/socom 18 etc blah blah??

Going to leave the irons on until I get my optics :D Not sure when I will be able to let it bark tho...sigh...

I also wish to replace the junky plastic stock with something nicer....I like nice lumber.
 
Not super impressed with the fact I cant find a decent online boxing day sale. I want to drop a grand on optics...but I would really like a sale!!!! FFFffffuuuuuuUUUUU!!!!!!

Sounds like you got a good one but it looks like you got a m305 22"bbl. A DA Socom 18 has an 18.5" bbl with a different FH and Navy front sight..
Mine's a m305 with an 18.5"bbl and the same FH as yours.

This is not a Socom18 as pictured. Your rifle may have the receiver stamped Socom18 however it is set up as a Standard M14s or M305 with 22" GI profile barrel and fl;ash hider. The Socom 18 as sold by Canam has an 18.5" barrel with a perforated cylinder type flash hider, gas lock front sight and when the F/H is removed and reversed will cover the 18.5" barrel partially and give the impression it's a Springfield Socom16 which is restricted here in Canada.
 
Interesting...ill have to take a picture and post it. Factory mix up? Or just a fun wsy for me to upset the perfectionists?? LoL

Anyway....ordered an aimpoint pro for it today. Quite dissapointed to say the least....was unable to find anyone with them on sale. :(
 
Actually got home for one night!! Snapped a pic so ya'all don't think I am a crackhead or somethin'

On the sales slip it says "Dominion Arms M-14S 7.62x51mm "




Maybe the stamp tooling was broke so they just stamped it SOCOM 18 :D

I can guess if I just keep calling it a SOCOM 18 some people will get there panties in a bunch....

As has been mentioned, you've got a M14S/M305 configured rifle. The receiver is marked SOCOM18, true, but the barrel screws in, so it's looking like Norinco just used a 22" barrel on a 18" marked receiver.
