That's just plain sick! He should have a lifetime ban and spend some serious jail time.
Reading this lead me to Google gall bladder uses which lead to learning about bear bile farms. The bears are kept in cages so small they cannot turn around to pull out the permanent catheter that's inserted for draining bile. I never would have guessed people would do such a thing.
Does the stuff actually work that good? Maybe it makes your wang grow?
Oh well. one less bear means one more moose calf survives! Flame suit on.
It seems like every Chinese national Canada locks up will result in China randomly locking up a couple of Canadians in retaliation.
So do humans.Shoot a bear if you want, but they have a place in the ecosystem too.
The guy is a ####. Shouldn't be allowed to hunt ever.
It should be legal to sell gall bladders from legally harvested bears.
I don't see why not. Why mandate wasting a part of an animal when sportsmen like to use every part of an animal. If you hunt spring bear in BC you will meet Chinese and Vietnamese folks out there. You don't see them as much in the fall during deer season. I did see an Asian man hunting during the fall and asked if he had seen any deer. "Yes, but I'm bear hunting. I don't have a deer tag."
I wonder what is the meaning of this? Haha.
You are right.
That is a dimwit remark.
Just because you shoot a bear does not make you a white-hat good guy.
The kind of attitude you show just encourages people to shoot bears for nothing claiming "I'm saving a moose calf/deer fawn."

So lets say this poacher shot 25 bears ....how many moose calves would YOU venture to guess the removal of those bears saved? While I don't condone the wasteful killing of the bears, I am saying there is a benefit to his actions too! If given the choice, I'd pick more moose, less bears everyday all day long.
Black bears are 85% vegetarian. Yes, they will occasionally opportunistically eat young ungulates but the popular picture painted by some that they are voracious fawn and calf killers is just plain incorrect.
Sure they are. Some day go for a walk in bear country and blow a fawn bleat call in the spring and I sure hope you are ready to rumble
Cheers

Please take a few minutes and read through post #19
Not sure if you remember the period of time Ardent mentioned in an earlier post but things were seriously out of control. The illegal stuff was being hidden with the legal gall bladders. In order to get a handle on things the statute came down that no one could be in possession of a gall bladder, period. There was a documentary, maybe W5, that did a show on this. There was a pipeline (not sure if I should use that word in BC) direct to China and there was literally boat loads of this type of stuff heading over. If a person harvests a bear and quietly takes their gall bladder home to utilize it, fair enough, but there is big money to be made and we all know how that ends up. I picked up a dead eagle on the right of way one day and had it mounted. I was offered $10,000 for it ( an American not a Chinese) at a time when I was up to my neck in debt. Pretty GD tempting. It is on display at a taxidermist office.
