this time sheeps seized.
Did we ever learn the names associated with the other out of bounds sheep hunters?
this time sheeps seized.
wouldn't a statute of limitation come into effect after 13 years?
Limitation period
178(1) A prosecution for an offence under this Act shall not be commenced after the earlier of
(a) two years after evidence sufficient to proceed with prosecution of the offence first came to the attention of a conservation officer; or
(b) three years after the offence was committed.
Limitation period
(9) Proceedings by way of summary conviction in respect of an offence under this Act may be instituted at any time within, but not later than, two years after the day on which the Minister became aware of the subject-matter of the proceedings.
One thing that I have learned over the years, be very careful with your "pick-chaas" - some small minded twit will sit and study them for hours - and if jealous of your harvest, will bury you quicker than you can blink an eye!
There isn't bigger issues to worry about?
14km or 14ft they don't care and what difference does it really make.
Kind of surprised those kind of resources where wasted.
They each took an animal which was their intention to do legally, not like they had trailer full of trophy animal heads just poached at night to sell for profit.
These guys obviously the means to go on these hunts for Trophy Animals so there is little compassion from me.
They are sorry because they got caught and the publicity will only make them a hero in some circles of the hunting community.
They are not being punished in BC, so there will be little consequences when it comes to hunting back in their Home Province ...

Rob
The courts also have a tendency to show more compassion to hunters whose pockets aren't so deep or perhaps claim to have committed an illegal act in order to feed their family.
But I'm sure you know all about that.![]()
From the Whitehorse News paper story ...'' the court heard, and Ruddy agreed, neither MacKenzie nor Makasoff realized they had crossed the B.C. border – where they could legally hunt – into the Yukon.
They have accepted responsibility for not having the proper maps on-hand and ensuring they remained in northern B.C.
Rob
Actually bearkilr, they where virtually unknown in circle of their respective Province for Hunting infractions.
It is well known that if one has been caught breaking a law there have been laws broken before they are caught.
Kinda like drinking and driving there are several events before one has been caught.
As for feeding the family since when has a Dall Sheep ever become the poor mans venison ?
There are hunters who go to great extremes to spot , stalk and then judge whether it is a legal Ram or a ''Ram of Their Life''
Just saying there are more sides to the story and a 14km error is not an error in lack of planning.
My GPS tells me how far i have walked and at what average speed I have been traveling...no maps of the area??
They left those in the float plane or they didnt buy any before this hunt because that was money for food for their wee little ones?
I think not.
Tight Groups,
Rob
btw, those who live in glass houses shouldnt toss stones stones... myself included.

Don't know about Yukon but it's legal for a guide to himt while guiding in BC.
Who were they, where were they from and any exlpanation of why the trophies were not confiscated?

Sorry, you misunderstood. All I was eluding to is that there are basically two sets of laws in this country, depending on ethnicity and social well being.
Basically what I meant to say is that in your profession you know which cases are worth pursuing and which ones should just be dropped because the courts will just toss them anyway.
